So far 182 down to 164 and struggling :(

Hi! I used to be around 210 and went down to 182 about 2 years ago, and recently decided to get straight back on the weightloss journey! I have lost 18lbs in the last 3 months, which was a bit of a struggle as i'm used to losing the weight much quicker than that ordinarily, but for the last month I have pretty much stayed the same which has resulted with a slight downfall on the diet front.

The problem isn't really in my regular meals, I tend to have fruit like pinapple, banana or strwberries for breakfast, half a sandwich with usually boiled egg of ham in it and another banana, and my meals are often whatever my Mum cooks (which isn't always a square meal with lots of veggies, mostly pasta) but I try to stick with small portions.

So I guess i'm still having alot of trouble with snacking between meals. I put on all of the weight before by binging out of boredom, and although I haven't 'binged' for a long time, i'll go for the odd biscuit or two, or slice of bread almost everyday recently. I seem to have lost the part of my determination on that side of things. I'd also like to eat healthier dinners, but because i'm so busy with college and Work, and recently i've been trying to go to the gym everyday, I often have whatever I can quickly.

I'd really love to lose another 26lbs bu the end of July as i'm going on holiday with my boyfriend, and have NEVER been able to wear a bikini before..

Pleassseeee help if you have any ideas of what I can do to change things, healthier yet satisfying snacks that I can graze on?

Below are some pics from 182 to 164lbs!

Thankyou for any help you can offer!

First off, congrats on your loss :D 18lbs in 3 months is great! Losing 1.5lb per week is very good :)

In regards to your temptation between meals, have you given gum a try? I've used the Extra sugar-free gum constantly since I started my regimen. Each stick only has about 5 calories and it really does help. It's certainly a lot better than grabbing something that has 150-200 calories in it!

Plus, I don't put a limit on how much I use in a day since the act of chewing burns up those calories (if you chew long enough) :]

Hi Frogged :) Thanks for the encouragement! I had previously considered gum briefly, but for some reason I never tried it! I usually chew gum after breakfast anyway, which is silly because that's probably the time when i'm least interested in what I want to eat next, so i'll deffinately give that a try :)

If I may, I would totally recommend the Sweet Watermelon flavor. I've tried almost all the flavors available, and I think Sweet Watermelon is the best by far :)

Also, do you take any fiber tablets? Fiber will help you feel full longer. One of the things I do after my biggest meal is take 3 pieces of gum, chew it up a little, then pop an orange-flavored 'Fiber Choice' tablet and chew it all together. It tastes really good. Very fruity, sweet, and the taste lasts a good 30-45min :]

I get those tablets off Amazon if you're curious :)

Hmm i'mm not too sure if I can get anything other than mint flavoured gum in the UK? But i'll take a look!
Also, I never knew you could get fibre tablets! Just looked on my local health shop site and I think they do them.. is this them?

Because that would help me so much with my portion sizes! Thanks again for the great advice :)

You're welcome :) I'm glad my suggestions are helpful :D

Here are the tablets I order:

Also try eating veggies like celery, very very low calories and high in fiber. Put some almond butter on it (a little bit) for an extra kick and some healthy fat.

Fruit is in high fiber too! You can easily get your daily recommended fiber by just eating fruits and veggies, I often exceed it! Supplements have their place, like Frog said, especially if you can combine it with something else to make it better. Good advice Frog!

Thanks Sparks :)

BTW, almond butter is awesome! I replaced the peanut butter I always used in my PB&J sandwiches with it recently.

I think they taste even better now :]

Ohhh Almond butter? I think that's another one i'm gonna have to look up online! Thanks alot Spark! :) I heard that peanut butter with all the additives and sugar is pretty good to eat with salad too, is this true?

Oh and Frog! I ordered some of that fruity gum off of amazon.co.uk last night! Can't wait to try it! Thanks again for your help!

You look amazing. Congratulations.
You should start a blog on the weight loss diary section.
Everyone is full of suggestions and support there :)

OKAY! So everythings going pretty good! (bar today, seriously failed this evening with a few ginger nut biscuits, 3 mikados and 2 all natural bars which were not in my eating plan! :( ) BUT! Now that my binge is out of my system, tomorrow is a new day and another pound lost I hope!

But, the reason i'm posting! Im now down to 159lbs!!! :) Which I can't be happier about! The only trousers that fit me now are my jeggings (which in a way is amazing but I only have 1 pair of trousers to wear now :/)

So only 19lbs to go till I reach my short term goal of 140lbs! :)

Thanks for your help and supposrt so far!

Hi! Congrats and do not get discouraged! You win some and loose some and hopefully come out better :)

A few things I noticed.. how much protein do you have in your diet? For me I've noticed if I can keep a higher amount of protein it keeps me full longer, while carbs just pack on the pounds.

The other thing, track how many calories you are eating. It doesn't seem like you eat much, which works for quick weight loss at first until your body adjusts to the lower caloric level.

A few ways to break out of it are going from low to high days say, if your low day is 1400 make your high day 1800. This makes your body shocked because it does not feel like it is starving all the time so it keeps the metabolism high and keeps fat burning instead of conserving.

Also another thing, exercise works to keep it coming off, also it keeps a person from becoming 'skinny fat' where they are skinny but still really jiggly and can't rock the bikini! Muscle never fails :)

You're doing great! Best of Luck look forward to seeing your progress!!!!

Thanks Spark! :D

To Angelwings, admitedly, I do tend to try and eat less calories than what is probably healthy but there is a reason for this :/ I have been on/off dieting for about 6 years now, gradually I've lost over 55lbs.. My problem is that every phase of my diet, over time I have had to gradually pull my calorie intake down from about 1800 and I now hover at around 1000..
I KNOW this isn't considered very healthy but..
Because I work/College/Study through most of my time, my excersise regime isn't brilliant and no matter what I eat, my weight doesn't shift, so gradually (very gradually) I pulled my cals down as I went.

The reason I have lost that much over the past few weeks in mainly because as my college year is begining to dwindle down, I have had time to go to the gym for about an hour a day, 6 days a week.

To be honest, although I wouldn't recommend these calories to anyone else, I really can,t see any other way around it. I am very good at maintaining my weight regardless, so i'm confident that once I can reach my goal, I can gradually pull my cals back in again like I did lowering them, it's just gonna take alot of time...

BUT any advice would be MUCH appreciated :)

Thanks all!

I'm pretty sure we could be twins. I definitely feel myself in you like crazy! I'm down 13 pounds in 2 months and I am also working toward wearing a bikini on a cruise I'm taking with my boyfriend in August!

I also struggle with snacking, balancing working out, college, & work. && I am also guilty of cutting back too much sometimes.

I don't really have any advice because we are in the same boat but you go girl! Lets do this together & prove to everyone that it is OUR time! :)

The 18 pounds you've lost are super obvious though & you're really making great progress!

Thankyou so much for posting! Haha it does sound like we have the same problem! To be honest, I imagine aalot of people who have the goals that we do go through the same thing! It's just getting into a steady routine that I really need to try to do!

But YEAH we'll do it together one way or another!!! :)
