So exciting! Weight loss diary #1

Dew's Unoriginal Weight Loss.

So, my name is Dew and I'm 15 years old, for starters :). I posted a before picture in the before & after section about 9 days ago, and have been exercising and watching what I eat since then.

I haven't been too hard on my self when it comes to eating, just trying to snack less and have healthier foods in general. My family is big on bagels, so I usually have an everything bagel for breakfast, something from the cafeteria at lunch (if theres nothing good, they have fruit at the office) and whatevers for dinner! My parents are both also trying to lose weight, and they are what motivated me to do so as well, so I don't have to worry too much about how healthy our dinners are.

We have an elliptical trainer in our basement hat I use once or twice a day after school, usually about 30 minutes a day. It helps me most when my sister sings to me while I'm running, or I listen to my mp3 player (the Killers mostly, they have long songs and I can usually tell how long I've run by how many songs I've listened to.)

So I just did my "weekly weigh in" and here are the results!

Starting Weight: 164
Current Weight: 156
Total week loss: 8 lbs

Woo~! So exciting. I know it won't keep going at such a rate, but I'm proud of myself so far :)

You are lucky to have elliptical machine in your basement! Make the best use of it :O
8lbs is great so far....keep it up!

Thanks you guys! Haha and yeah, the elliptical trainer is great to have because it's so freaking cold outside here in saskatoon P:

An update! Hoorah.

My second weigh in is tomorrow and I'm feeling quite guilty from a slip up yesterday. My family has been watching the famed Buffy the Vampire Slayer series since October, having bought the box set. We watch it whenever we're free, as a family, and it's sort of become this ritual type thing. Yesterday we were on the last disc of the last season (season 7) and we planned a kind of party thing to watch the last episodes of Buffy. Me and my mum went shopping beforehand and got loads of snacks like chips, gummies, pop, icecream and the like. I tried to sort of make up for it by running fourty minutes that day, and shoveling our ice-packed driveway (also for 40 minutes.) but I still feel bad and it may have ruined my entire week of effort! D:. So today I'm going to eat a little bit less, and run for 40 minutes and hopefully it will work out. I am also quite anxious for tomorrows weigh in, wish me luck!

I want to say the same as Trusylver lol :D

D: Uh oh, that's weird. It's checked to show the signature and my preview shows up fine :S

Hoorah another update! (also does anyone know how to change the title of this thread.)

So my weigh in was today D: It looks like I haven't lost any weight. Well, it's a disappointment because i've been running atleast 30 mins a day (sometimes 40). I guess my eating could have been better, as I have a major weakness for Gorp. For those of you who don't know what gorp is, it's like a bag of peanuts, raisins, chocolate chips, cheerios, coconut etc. (original was granola, oats, raisins, peanuts, GORP). I'm looking at all the weigh loss diaries on here and trying to get motivated by them to stick with my exercise and food habits, and if anyone has a suggestion for what else i can do (like other exercise) thats great! :D

there are lots of things you can do at home as far as exercise goes. It is a good idea to also include resistance training as well so you look good when you have lost the fat :)

If you say what equipment you have at home the more suggestions you will get eg. I am working on bodyweight exercises at the moment while I can't access the gym for my regular training.

Well, like i said before, the only big equipment thing I have is the elliptical :x but I do have various weights, and access to a gym that I could probably convince a family member to drive me to a couple times a week. I would like it if I kept the gym as more of a privilege sort of thing, seeing as I can't get myself to it and can't rely on being able to get a ride every week. D:

I have posted a fair few bodyweight only exercises in my diary but here is a basic list.

Squat
Single Leg Squat
Lunges
Pushups
Planks
Side Planks
Bench Dips
Dirty Dogs
Hip Adduction
Donkey Kicks
Wall Sits or Fulham Wall Sits
Reverse Crunch
V Ups
Bird Dogs

you could also do exercise videos. Etc.

Hey, good luck :)
You're lucky to have that machine in your basement. My parents have a running-machine (is there an english word for that??) but I live on the other end of the country, so that doesn't help me at all :( I agree, it's really handy in the winter when it's cold outside.

Tru: thanks so much! I'll be sure to try some of those after school :)

Frey: a treadmill? yeah, it is really handy, but only when you live close to it haha! ;P
