Snacking

I know to snack on veggies and fruits for you snack time but is there anything else "clean" i cant eat besides that i dont want to get tired of them.

there's also tree bark, sucking on a stone, & ice cubes, LOL! just kidding, i'm curious about this, too. everyone post their suggestions please. :)

lol shimmering, tree bark. well, besides natures candy...sheit...ive got nothing. maybe yogurt? but iuno about yogurt. i dont eat yogurt even. ahh jello maybe? sugar free jello? jello with chunks of fruit in it, my dad used to make it all the time when he dieted. but once again, not sure though. hmm jello, makes me want to get some. but other than the many varieties of fruit, which i dont think you can get tired of....iuno

cottage cheese is good for snacking i find. and if you find your getting bored of certain fruits try mixing them together or blending them in a smoothie with some protein powder. i usually do 2 banannas 2 - 3 scoops of protein powder (vanilla) and i top it off with a bunch of mixxed berries or jsut strawberries, and some water, tastes so good, more for a after work out, but if you make smaller portions it would make a perfect snack.

Maybe different types of fruits? I also snack on plain rice cakes if I must snack. Can't think of anything else. Personally I don't think I could ever get tired of fruit...

How about ... not snacking!

Find alternatives. Whenever you feel like snacking, have a cup of green tea (or even better: white tea).

Or get yourself some hoodia.

well, it's better to snack so you keep your metabolism up.

i occasionally have a low fat yogurt, some nuts/seeds, cottage cheese on ryvita... stuff like that. i might even have a small bowl of cereal sometimes.

but there are so many different kinds of fruit and veg, it's hard to get sick of them.

First of all when you guys snack it sounds like some of you aren't counting that against your total calories for the day. Personally I don't really want to snack because it takes away from one of my meals. And at 6 meals a day, and sleeping 8 hours a night I don't really have time to worry about snacking cause I eat every 2.5 - 3 hours. Thats the idea, to stay satisfied so you won't need to snack.

well i do meal, snack, meal, snack, meal, snack so i definitely count it towards my daily calorie intake... and write it all up on fitday.com :D . i just haven't got as far as to have 6 equal meals so i kinda have 3 small and 3 bigger. the small ones i call "snacks" :)

Eating 6-7 equal meals, I never have the desire to snack. Occasionally I'll have 1/2 cup fresh raspberries or frozen blueberries, but that's all.

Good call spockafina. I have a problem with snacking myself -- I try to always be hungry, but I never recommend others snack because it promotes bad eating habits. If you eat your 5 - 7 meals a day, your metabolism should be well levelled throughout the day unless you're one of those people who have abnormally fast metabolisms (in which case, what are you worried about?)

But then, not everyone who eats throughout the day is necessarily trying to lose weight or coming out of a bad weight/eating problem. I prefer teaching self-control over constant (but healthy) eating.

how many varieties of frutis and veggies are there? start at one end of your store..eat until the other end..and when you get tired of that stuff, THEN post, okay?

Sometimes when i feel like snacking, i down a huge glass of water. This does two things,1) it fills your stomach and takes the urge to eat away and 2) it helps you get down your gallon of water per day.

i guess i should add what we eat for snacks. we do fruit, cottage cheese, low cal cranberry juice mixes, plain yogurt & fruit, and water sometimes, too. oh and making a shake from fruit like was suggested earlier works, too. i do count snacks into our 12-1300 calorie a day diet, BTW.
also, the 6 meal a day plan is fine for some, but not something i choose to do. i really dont want meals defining my entire schedule/life. i believe you can eat healthy on 3 meals a day, no problem. just gotta make sure you eat well/nutritiously.

Me too! I try to do green tea when I can because it's water, flavenoids, EGCG, and an appetite suppressant.

Green tea is pretty widely available. Celestial Seasonings brand is everywhere (and pretty decent though not the best), and they make a good green tea. If you like the green tea, you can then move on to white tea, which is an upgraded version (but rarer and slightly more expensive).
