This is my title for my diary.

Day1 weight 200, lots of edema and also bowels were impacted.
Day 2 weight 190. bowels had worked and my bp/fluid pills.
Day 3 weight 197, ate Easter dinner yesterday and ham was very salty. I really must watch the things I eat.

I know this, when my body is working properly I weigh 190. I hate health problems! But I also know I didn't have have problems when was thin. I didn't want to hurt anyones feeling and boil my ham yesterday, after it had already been baked. But if I plan on eating any ham today------I am going to boil it, to get all that salt out. plus, Thank God there is over a month before the next holiday!
Now, i really want to get started, I just didnt have the energy to exercise yesterday but day 1, rode stationary bike for 90 minutes. i really hoping can get more motivated now warmer weather is here.

I havent set weight Date goals yet, but do want to get down to 145lbs. Due to my health problems and age, I must lose weight slowly, doctors recommend 1 pound a week for me. But be great to get to 145 by my birthday. Once there, i will decide if want to continue losing down to 120 or not.

I have really had to readjust my lifestyle, and eating because of my health, one food that I love though, is spaghetti, and if i eat it, I want to eat all day long. Studies show eating breakfast, ppl weigh less, at least 80% do, but when i eat breakfast i am starving for the rest of the day. Must be in the 20%, rather oviously who gain weight eating breakfast.

Anyways, off to exercise, on stationary bike! Hope can get my hour in!

Hi Patty

I'm 47 too. I also get constipation but its from my medication for depression. I take psyllium fibre to help with that. Still its a drag isn't it. Now that i am eating less for my diet, its only aggravated the problem more. Despite all the vegetables i eat and water i drink.

I also love spaghetti but i have no trouble stopping after a bowl. And, moreoever, i surprised myself recently by being satisfied with 100g instead of 125g as i used to eat.

I eat breakfast too. I find having lunch within a few hours helps. And i eat a good size breakfast.

The reason why its good to have breakfast is because your metabolism picks up. Mind you it would probably pick up if you only had a cup of coffee also.

I do find it good to eat my meals evenly spaced and not to eat after dinner though. I don't even have a cup of coffee after dinner, or tea. This is all new for me. But i seem to have adapted pretty easily.

I just lost my whole post, dont ya hate that?!!!! But am sticking to it, and exercising more, and keeping a calories notebook and calories burned notebook.
I have set some goals;
170lbs pounds by July 1st
145 pounds by October 1st

Most of all, I want to THANK you ladies for helping me get started! I hope I may be as much benefit to all of you as well.

I am setting fitness goals as well, so I am walking, riding exercise bike, and plan to go out dancing more, if cant go out, I can dance at home.

Anyways, not gonna bore everyone silly, Lets keep it down ( weight concerning and liven up our lives!)

All's going great here. Be aware you can't have a signature until you have at least 10 posts (I think? I couldn't find mine until I had 11), so you need to post some more before you get that ticker on your posts. Saw some friends I haven't seen in awhile yesterday and they all commented that I'd lost a lot of weight. Really pleasing. It's great to finally feel on top of this weight loss/ fitness thing. It's been my demon for so long.
 
Hey sounds great! I know we can do this together, i take anti-depressants and a mood stabilzer as well. plus medication for high blood pressure---mine was always at the lower end until I gained weight. Unfortunately i also have terrible allergies, and those meds do make me sleepy.

But have more energy when I exercise!

how much weight ya looking to lose?
 
I'm looking to lose 11kg, or just over 24 pounds. Have lost 6.6 pounds (3kg) so far (in the last three weeks, had a bit of trouble losing weight before that). (There's 2.2 pounds in a kilogram- kg. Unfortunately I can only really think in metric, was raised on it)

I'm on a bunch of medication as well, several of them are supposed to contribute to weight gain, but as with anything it can be overcome (I also have two health conditions which I believe are associated with or may contribute to obesity, lucky me). Just means we have to work a bit harder to get there, and it means more (and therefore we can be more smug and self-satisfied!) when we lose/ keep off the weight. I have allergies as well, but they're under reasonable control with some prescription spray I got from my doctor.

Exercise is awesome for energy and mental clarity. I'm starting to really enjoy the gym (although not as much as I'm enjoying changing shape and see the number on the scale go down!)
