smith machine

Unfortunately once people have had instruction from a trainer they are often then on there own. I cant be with my clients everytime they are in the gym. If you show someone how to do something there is no gurantee that they will remember its human nature.

If it was a fact that a smith machine was of no use for gym users then why would gyms buy them and why would they have been invented?

With that mentality it's no wonder 99% of gym goers will never see meaningful results.

Thats not a mentality thats a fact. Its unfortunate but it is a fact. Where did you get that figure? Just because its human nature to forget doesnt mean people can get results I never sad that. It is through mistakes that we learn.

I suppose you have never made a mistake in a gym

Yes it is. Im over this thread and will not post in here again. This is a discussion forum not a forum where we try to prove each other wrong. I agree with stroutmans points but only because I know that he is experienced with working with people in gyms. When you are actually qualified in ex prec please post something that is actually meaningful and not arrogant. Later
 
Ok i didnt mean to start a huge debate about smith machines, i was just wondering what the bar weighted. lol

the reason im using the smith machine, is because my trainer told me to do that for a few weeks until i get the proper movement for bench press down because i was doing it wrong (coming down to my chest insted of a 90 degree angle). im only planning on using it for a couple weeks, and wanted to kno what it weighed. and if it was just easier, or i got stronger or something.

25 pounds sounds about right.i cant imagine it weighs more than 45. thanks. keep the debate up if u want! haha

Just found out today that the bar at my gym weighs only 15lbs, but depending on the friction (how old/lubed up the bar is) makes a difference as well.
