Ok I am sure everyone has one of those days where you just eat and eat and don't care for the momenet, then you get to the point where it turns into 2 days then eventually a week + well by now depression is starting to set in and you just feel like crap.
Well my question is can give some tips to pull out of this?I even went back and looked at old pics and the new pics did good all day even walked 2 miles then went out to eat and blew it again.I wake up on a positive note then by mid day I want to eat the bad foods?I am sure it will pass but and advice would be apreciated?Tammy

Look at your ticker and look at how far you've come.

Ask yourself if the "insert junk food of choice" is worth the feeling you are currently having.

Remind yourself of how much you've worked to get where you are - and ask youreself if the backsliding is worth the extra work you're going to have to do (losing tose same 3lbs over and over again is frustrating)

Put away the scale for the time being and just take it one healthy meal at a time...

All-or-nothing thinking will get you no place fast. What I mean is, people expect to be "on" every single day when it comes to dieting. It just isn't possible. Life will always have alternate plans to throw at you on occasion.

And when it does throw you a curve ball, and you have this "all-or-nothing" mentality in place in your belief system, small bumps turn into mountains rather easily.

Once it has turn into a mountain, how do you climb back down to the trail?

I think it's different for everyone. However, the one factor across the board that applies to everyone is this: Where is your focus at the moment? Where was it when you "cheated?" Think about and realize your focuses. This will go a long way in answering your own questions presented above.

Remember, focusing on what you want is always better/more productive than focusing on what you don't want.

Thank you Mal and Steve,Yeah I know it's alot of mental I just hate
the fact I slipped into old habbits and at times it feels like "oh no here
is where I regain all the weight I lost.I have lost like 50 lbs a LONG time
ago then packed it back on + extra I definatley don't want to do that again.
I am starting again today and going to make better choices when I eat.

I figured out 1 thing that may help alot is do not grocery shop when your tummy is growling then you wind up throwing oreos ices cream pizzas in the cart and taking them home then having to wake up to them everyday because I couldn't devour all it in 1 day I bought about $20 in BAD foods lastweek and it is all gone so I went out lastnight and bought grapes watermelon chciken mixed veggies plus I have a big pot of veggie soup I made before all this happend. So I am hoping for better days ahead,Tammy

Yes, the Never Shop When You Are Hungry rule is very important. The only way around it if you have to is to make a VERY specific list of what you need and not browse around. One of the big things that helped me gain back all the weight I had worked so hard on losing was going to the shops nightly because I hadn't planned my weekly meals. I would buy stuff for dinner, then a snack for the drive home (yeah, a 3 minute drive), then snacks for after dinner and so on.

I read a great thing a while ago, it might have even been here. Is it worse to eat food you don't need or to throw it away? The answer was it was worse to eat it, because if you throw it away you're being wasteful, if you eat it when you don't need it you are being wasteful and gluttonous.

So, if you have something you REALLY don't want in your fridge, like some ice cream or something, give it away or throw it in the bin (unpackaged so it gets filthy and you don't think `Hey, those snacks are still sealed in a bag, they'll be FINE!).

I have been VERY close to retrieving things from a bin in the bad old days. I mean, something which I have put there myself and is still sealed, not general rubbish.

You have gone a long ways since you first started, you deserve a pat on the back.

I know its easier said then done, but when you go shopping, avoid the junk food. However, you can adjust it by getting the lower fat junk food, then slowly get back on track to what your comfortable with. Don't try stopping cold turkey, because then you'll set yourself up for another fall.

nia, i am in the same position as you. lost a lot, but unexpectedly have bad days were i just know im going to binge. had one the other day. in the past this 1 binge has led to days/ weeks. months and years of overeating. the difference this time is my next meal i will get back on track, no matter how much my tummy/brain etc is telling me to go eat those biscuits/crisps etc. i reckon we have lost too much weight and gained so much by doing it to let it all go
i do have a limited amount of "junk" in the house i admit. saying that the kids also are eating much better/healthier now too, although i dont stop them having the occasional treat. i have given up on my o/h. basically lives on chocolate and bread products. moans how he is putting on weight/how unfit. how scared he is for his future health etc. when i give him healthier food he either moans or leaves/ refuses the healthiest bits.
tomble, in the past i have retrieved food out of my bin. wrapped of course but still totally disgusting. they say destroy it by squirting washing up liquid on it. slim
