slow metabolism's?

hi, i am trying to lose 20 lbs by the end of summer (currently at 220 and 6'4''). my main diet plan is counting cal's and eating a balanced diet (aiming for a 500-1000 calorie difference between my metabolism and intake).

as for my question, i hear a lot of people talk of slow metabolisms and whatnot, but how much could it actualy differ from my calculated BMR, if i were to have a slow metabolism. is it possible that it could be enough to throw off my calorie counting or is this not very common and more of an excuse to be overweight?

thanks

Some people have legitimiately slow metabolisms - and everyones metabolism slows as they grow older. I'm sure there are people who use it as an excuse, but it is frequently a reality.

Your BMR is usually calculated based on your age, height, weight, and gender - as such, it can be very inaccurate. At the same time, unless you want a rather expensive bodygem machine, it's the best you're going to get :)
