It's been a few days since I have been going to sleep early. Yesterday was the latest I went to sleep in these first few day that I have been sleeping early. I slept at 10 PM yesterday. The problem is that when I sleep now I get up to early. One time at 2:30 am and another at 4:49 am. So basically I've been getting up in between those sorts of time since I started sleeping early. I actually quite like waking up at 4 or 5 am. But the problem is I start feeling really tired towards the evening. I know that sleep is a vital part for muscle growth and recovery. What do you guys think is this a bad sleeping pattern?

Previously my sleeping pattern consisted of sleeping in the day and staying awake in the night. This wasn't good. I become addicted to the dark and wouldn't get up till it was dark outside. Even now as I speak I have the curtains drawn up. I need to start going outside and stop being a recluse. All I seem to do is be on my PC or watch TV and play video games. Anybody else suffer this problem either in the past or now? How did you guys break out of his reclusive habit? What activities did you do?

What type of sleeping patterns do you have? How has it affected your life? Do you need a lot of sleep?

well if your sleeping only about 6 or so hrs, then thats not really good. I know people do it all the time though. I guess if thats your schedule, it is what it is...but I personally think you should try to sleep more.

My husband has a heck of a time with sleep...at least for the last year. He had a medical scare a year ago and that changed his sleeping pattern. Now, he's lucky to get 8 hrs a night, like you. He doesnt' get to bed until 1ish and then is often woke up sometimes as early as 4 and he says that he just can't go back to sleep afterwards.

now me, i'm a different story, I'm a great sleeper, always have been. I get a good 9hrs every night and sometimes i'll nap too. if i get woke up it takes me all of 2 minutes to fall back to sleep.

The problem is that when I sleep in the day and stay awake in the night I can sleep long but when I sleep early I don't get that much sleep. I have this problem with waking up in the night. I think It's because I am over weight.

I have always been a lite sleeper, anything can wake me up. I say all the time "give me" a sound proof room with NO windows and NO lights and let me sleep! I slept descendant when I worked. But there are times that I don't get any sleep at all! I have went all night and all day without sleep. That is not good!!

Sometimes if I don't have a little caffeine before noon. I will sleep all through the day and get up and eat and back to bed I will go and sleep all night. But that is when I am fatigue.

But I can't have caffeine after noon or I will stay up about all night or go to bed to sleep, but can't. Sometimes I drink Sleepy Time teas, this helps me to go to sleep and wake up refreshed (Celestial Herbal Tea Caffeine Free). If I was not on thyroid medicine, I think I would drink 1 beer a night. One can of beer makes me sleepy and I wake up refreshed. Then I would probable have a beer belly, lol.

i'm always sleepy as i have to get up at 8 a.m to go to work. And i can't go to bed earlier than 2 a.m. But at weekends i can sleep for 12-14 hours... Though i can't go to bed earlier than 3-4 a.m. at weekends. In fact i spend my weekends sleeping((( and i don't like it at all...

If I understand correctly, you can't fall asleep before 2am, right?

Do you exercise regularly? If you don't, try to make it a priority to work out at least every other day, for a 1hr; it really helps. Also, make sure you are eating right. Maybe reduce all caffeine intake if you consume any during the day. Another thing you could do is, every night before you go to bed, immerse your feet in very cold water (bathtub maybe) for a while until it gets uncomfortable. I heard that helps too. Otherwise get a book on C.D and listen to it in bed with small earplugs, that will make you fall asleep.

Thank you for advice! I'll try to do it and report on my progress!

My sleeping patterns are absolutely awful right now. I have GAD so sometimes I find it difficult to sleep when I'm really tense and, for whatever reason, when I returned to school from Christmas break last week, I just could not sleep. It was so bad that I skipped all of my classes on Monday and Tuesday which is terrible! Right now, I don't fall asleep until around 5:00am. On Mondays and Wednesdays, this means going to class on about 3 hours of sleep. On Tuesdays and Thursdays it means going to class on approx. 5. Fridays I have personal training at 12:00 so I'm basically trying to work out on no sleep whatsoever. I'm miserable right now but my nerves are still worked up and it's impacting my physical well being as well. ;(

I know how ya'll feel. My sleeping patterns are way off. I have to take a sleeping pill at night to get to sleep and even then I sometimes don't get to sleep all night.

i think its effecting my diet really badly not sleeping, so i wraped up last night and managed to sleep till 11, so i think for me its alot to do with the weather

yeah my sleeping patterns are not that great..I usually can't get to bed until after 12:30 am, and the worst part is that once I do go to bed I have this habit of getting up around 4:00 am and eating something, it's usually just a small snack but still.. it freakin pisses me off because this will almost always ruin my diet after having done so well the day prior. Oh well looks like I'm going to have to chain the fridge or somthin. : )
