Hi, Folks.
I have a question about sleeping and feeling tired. There are two ways I sleep:
1. on the couch,
2. in bed
My wife snores like you wouldn't believe which is why I sometimes allow myself to fall asleep on the couch. When that happens I wake up early, unassisted and feeling fresh. When I go to bed it usually takes me a while to fall asleep. This is, I think, because my wife falls asleep much faster than me and then I cannot get to sleep because of her chainsaw impersonation. I am conscious of waking up during the night sometimes but, for all I know, I may wake up every night but I just don't recall (like a dream). So let's say I go to bed at midnight and wake up at 8:30, I feel like utter crap. It's really difficult to get going. I just want to lie in bed but I don't actually sleep. Compare this to sleeping on the couch but getting up 1.5 hours earlier and feeling great.
I don't know what it is but if anyone else has had a similar experience and knows what is going on....I'm all ears. I don't want to find evidence to blame my wife or anything like that, I'm just trying to figure out what I can do to improve the quality of my sleep.
FYI - she has tried mouth / snore guards and she chews through them. I have tried ear plugs but they do something to my ears which makes them itch throughout the day. We have a white noise machine but that struggles to mask anything else (which isn't its purpose anyway).
I wonder if it's nothing to do with the snoring and to do with my bed. I'm thinking of going to the Dr. and seeing if he can give me something to help me fall asleep at night but I would rather not depend on a drug.
Thanks, Max
EDIT: oh yeah, why on a fitness forum?
Well, I want to do some cardio every morning but it's really tough getting up and doing it when I feel so exhausted (after sleeping in bed). If I sleep on the couch, not a problem.
