So my story so far...........

I'm 38 and been fat all my life. I've had a cycle of losing a few stone and gaining back and just going round in circles with it. I dont want to be that person anymore. Most recently I was 18stone 6lbs and got down to 15stone 10lb and as history has a habit of repeating itself, I find today I weigh 16stone 8lbs **sigh**

I thought today after eating for breakfast, 2 massive bowls of chocolate granola, half a tub of pringles + a handful of hazelnut wafers that something needs to change.

I just want somewhere for accountability. To record my trials, errors, frustrations and successes (if any). I need a couple of buddys if there's any takers :)

Welcome. You’ve come to the right place.

Great that you’ve started a diary. Have you thought about why you break your good habits?

Unfortunately there is no magic fix but then nothing worth having ever came easy did it?

What have you done previously to lose the weight? What worked? What didn’t?

lots of support here. Have a look around at other peoples diaries to see what they’re doing and try find something that works for you and that you ENJOY.

Hi Skibunny and welcome! There are no magical fixes for bodyweight but if you start making lasting changes right now and stick with them you´re going to be so much fitter (and likely slimmer) by the time you turn 40 :) Which is the number I´m thinking about these days, since I´m also 38...

Welcome to the forum!

There is no single, perfect way to go about being healthy and/or losing weight, so don't put pressure on yourself to get everything right. The "diet" industry relies on diets NOT working, which is how there are constantly new diets and diet products out there to keep you in the cycle of losing/gaining weight. These diets don't teach you how to make lasting healthy habits. but they do feed into negative relationships with food & hunger.

My suggestion would be to keep track of everything you eat and drink, as well as your exercise (honestly, without making changes) for a week or two. Then you can take stock of your current situation and think about what small changes you can make that are manageable long term. Then once you've established those habits a bit, move on to making another small change. Over time these changes add up and you end up learning what works for you in a much less stressful way that trying to make a huge overhaul all at once.

I just want somewhere for accountability. To record my trials, errors, frustrations and successes (if any). I need a couple of buddys if theres any takers :)

Well, you've found a good place for that!

Hi, Ski & welcome to the forum. :iagree: with PLB. Tracking everything you eat for a week or 2 is a great way to start & then working out a healthy "diet" that can be long-term is the best way to go. It's whatever suits you. I'm glad you have started a diary. :)
