Skipping

When I do skipping I get real bad pains in my lower shins and feet, I can barley go 3 mins. Any way to help this?
 
when i go early morning running outdoors i do this thing about halfway round in the park where i skip for 10, jump for 10, squat for 10 twice through.

There is something to be said for making a prat of yourself in open spaces in front of dog walkers. Character building, and all that.
 
its probably shin splints. s hould be able to find some stretching exercises that'll help, either here or google.

as far as skipping like a kid...I dunno..some people will try anything to get in shape if someone tells them 'it works' :)
 
once you've skipped, hopped and squated on a cold morning, being watched by some guy and his labrador, in the middle of a quiet park, you have nothing left to fear.
 
You need a flexible surface, such as a padded gym, a boxing/wrestling ring or some such. Also make sure you have good cross training shoes, not just regular ole sneakers.
