Six months to get fit (and hot)

Hey all

I've decided to start a new journal. I've been back here for 6 weeks or so and I'm at one of those points where I could just give up for a bit. SO for some extra motivation I thought I'd have a clean diary with new goals etc.

For those of you I haven't met before I'm Anna and I'm overweight! :waving:

My main goal for losing weight is to make my chances of getting pregnant better. We've been trying for about 3.5 years now, and have done 2 rounds of IVF (on top of all the other things you try), I've decided that I'll lose a bit of weight before we have the next assisted go. (obviously we still enjoy trying every month:hurray:). I think the IVF drugs, and associated moods with not being succesful made it difficult for me to lose weight, but now I'm into it!
I've copied these goals from the Valentines challenge. I'm really after a continuous loss over the next few months without losing focus. I'm not too worried about the scales as long as they keep going slowly down.

starting weight 219lbs (99.7kg)
current weight 210lbs (95.7kg)
goal weight for v day 180lbs (83kg)
goal weight forever 170lbs (77kg)

I just did some measurements as well so that I can keep track. (Its in cms sorry to the imperialists :ack2:)

Calves L 44.5cm R 45cm
thigh (above knee)L53.5cm R52.5cm
upper thigh L67cm R 68cm
Bum 117cm
Waist 94cm
boobs 103cm (with bra on)
upper arm (at bicep) L33.5cm R 35cm

Anyways hope some of you can make the journey with me :)

Anna

Hi Anna,
I just wanted to say hello, I'm definitely keen to make the journey with you :)
I have a similar amount of weight to lose too!
I can only imaging how stressful IVF must be, I think it's awesome you're getting healthier to help it happen.
Best of luck, and I'll see you round here :)

Jess

I'm on board too!!! You are off to a great start too with losing 9 pounds in 6 weeks!! Looking forward to keeping you motivated over the next 6 months or 135 days anyway!! We can do it!! Enjoy your weekend!:waving:

Hi Anna, that is definitely doable as I lost 19 kgs in the first 6 months of this year and you are already off to a great start.
Good luck on getting pregnant and I hope that you achieve it soon.

Hey all.

Thanks for the lovely replies.

I'm having a good day. I've got the feeling that I'm actually losing some weight this week. (I weighed in for the October challenge and the scales actually went downa little bit....not much but it was in the right direction yay).

I walked to work today which I've never done it is about 12km and it took me 95min which seems ok? My legs were feeling it by the time I got there. I've decided to adjust my cals upwards a bit and aim for 1800cal a day and I'm going to be really accurate when I count them, at least for a month, so I really know what is going on with my body. I was aiming at 1500 cals but I was getting pretty hungry on that so I think 1800 will be more achievable for longer.

Today I had

omelette 2eggs 1eggwhite mushrooms 1rasher baeon and a piece of bread
then the walk to work
snacks at work 1 babybel cheese, 1 banana, 1 protein bar
late lunch homemade sushi 1 cu cooked rice 1 fillet salmon avocado cucumber soy
snack kit kat 2 fingers
1700cals oops not much left for dinner... might be a salad I think. :)

I didn't plan the best today being the weekend! haha

Hi Anna. Good on you for starting a new diary to give yourself a bit of a boost of motivation if you feel you need it at this moment to carry on. Its strange looking at your goals as it was only 6 months or so ago that I was at 210lbs and looking longingly at 180lbs on the scales as a target. It IS DOABLE. It doesn't happen overnight and it takes a fair bit of effort but you know, if I had known how DOABLE it was, I would have done it years ago because all of that is outweighed easily by how good it feels.

The 12km walk sounds great - you'll be doing that regularly before you know it! And 95mins seems fine timewise, its probably what I'd run 12km in LOL!!

Hey jjay thanks for the motivation... I think maybe it was a bit less than 12 km, because I'm sure I can't walk that far that quick even with my long legs... I'll measure next time I drive to work.

Well, today I succumbed to some candy, and popcorn and wine and ...

I started my day with a walk and then mu home circuit, I am definately feeling fitter... so I worked out the cals and they weren't too far over, nothing to freak out about.

I'm just planning my week for exercise, and I'll definately need to plan my eating tommorrow so I don't fall into today's trap.

See ya all later.

like the new diary, and the challenge too!! Looking forward to hearing about your progress :) xx

THanks Katiebug

I've had a couple of wierd days. I think I've had some kind of bug, I had to take yesterday off work. I've had this really bitter tast in the back of my mouth for about 48 hours now. Its disgusting, but seemed a bit better today. I really hope its gone tommorrow. I googled it as a symptom and there are abour 62 reasons. The most common is a sore throat (not got one) or an acid stomach (have had a bit of that) ugggh its yukky.

Anyway I've eaten ok.

Today I went swimming and also did my home cct after walking the dog.

all is on track I think.

I'm still feeling motivated. I talked to an overweight woman at work today and she has lost 7kg its so awesome. she is doing weight watchers and is happy and into it. Its nice to have someone to talk to about it all :)

se ya later

I used to find that happening to me if I went too low with my calories and quantities of food eaten. It gave me a really acidy tummy with bad breath and a nasty taste. Just wondered if you've been eating enough for the last couple of days. I hope that you are feeling better now.

I wish you all the best my sweet friend! And yeah.. trying is lots of fun :D

Glad you gave me the heads up on the new diary.

It's been a hard week. Struggling with this bitter taste in my mouth. Its so weird, it hasn't even put me off my food. I've been drinking heapls more water though haha.

Yesterday I went swimming and did 10 lengths of the 50m pool. Then I did 20 min of aquajogging. Its quite fun and something mum and I can do together. We are going to try and do it a couple of times a week.

Today I wasn't feeling like exercising, but I got on the treadmill and did 40min on varying inclines. I held handweights and that really got me puffing.

I've been listening to some weight loss podcasts 'cut the fat podcast' and I really rate them. There is heaps of info. I'm trying out an idea where you 'fast' (go to bed and sleep) and then exercise (when you get up in th morning) and then try not to have you're first meal for a few more hours (up to 6 hours I think). Apparetnly there have been some good results. It follows my normal routine, but i just won't eat my first meal for a bit longer. I definately won't be doing it every day, but I'll try for once or twice a week I think.

I described it to my family members and they said "YUK how could you do that", whereas i'm thinking "cool I can't wait". Funny the different mind sets we're in haha.:grouphug:

Water jogging sounds fun as!
Let us know how the podcast thing goes if you do try it Anna, and I hope that bad taste goes away soon! I used to get really savage heartburn before I started eating really healthily, it was awful and gave me a hideous metallic taste in my mouth :(

The aqua jogging is quite fun. You put a flotation belt on and then 'jog' up and down the pool.THe pool is a couple of metres deep so you can't touch the bottom. There is a recommended workout where you diferent things with your arms (like breastroke arms etc). Its quite hard if you push it, but there are some people who just 'slowly float up and down'. Its great cause you can chat if you are with someone.

I did the 'delay' eating thing this morning. I got up and walked the dog for an hour and then got her home and washed her (stinky dog is now clean fluffy dog), and then had to clean the bathroom. So I didn't eat till about midday. It's actually pretty much what I always do on my days off anyway (the delayed eating not washing the dog...) and they are definately the days that increase my weight loss.

The other really effective thing that I'm doing is changing my workouts. I've been doing my 'home cct' at least 3 times a week. It gets my heart rate right up there, and tires my big leg muscles (quads and glutes) out. I've also added a couple of pool sessions which work my whole body. I'm really feeling the difference.

I used to be a secret everyday weighin girl, but I've decided no to do that this week. I've only weighed in on my official day (wednesday ) and then weighed in for the 100lbs challenge. I'm feeling more hopeful and less desperate about the whole fitness and weight loss thing, and that I'm going to get there YAYAY.

love the positive attitude, keep up the good work anna :) xx
PS - love the sound of aqua jogging, i love anything water-related!! :)

Hey everyone. We've been having internet problems... boring!

I weighed in for the challenge... no change.... I'm sick of seeing 94.5kg on the scale... please let it drop soon!

I've been counting cals every day and keeping active. I had one day off, but still counted and didn'e go over the top with food or anything. Why won't the scales MOVE!!!

blah... I'll just keep on keeping on I guess. Not gonna let this mood stop me from getting to goal!

Yep keep on going!! The scales will suddenly just shift at some point, got to be patient! Its actually very simple, decrease what's going in and increase what you are burning off and at some stage it will all come home to roost.

Yep I'll just wait....

.....

soon hopefully?

I think I'm probably coming up to TOM which would explain the stationary numbers on the scales. I'v got that bloated feeling, and woke up super thirsty, drank a litre of water already this morning!

I've got the next week off YAY. I've got quite a few days of house chores and then Hubby and I are going tramping (NZ terminology for hiking in hills with backpacks, staying in huts, no showers etc). I know that'll be good for the butt muscles (hauling myself up and down a couple of thousand metres!).

Really excited about getting out into the mountains again, its been about a year.
