Sit down Abs. Stand Up No Abs

When I m sitting down or curled over you can see a 4 pack on my upper abs. When I stand up it disappears.

Im 14, 6 ft and 130 pounds with a BMI of 17.6

I do 30 sit-ups every morning and have just started 10 press ups.

I eat fairly healthly but want to put on a few pounds as Im really skinny and my ribs are visible.

Any suggestions??

when you sit down your abs arent stretched like they are when you are standing, you know if you stand up and flex, then hunch a little forward, your abs will pop out more, same concept. just dont let this trick you into walking hunched!
If you are really skinny, maybe you're abs arent so big that you can get that ripped looking 6pack yet, or you might just have some fat covering them.

a little "theory" some more experienced people should comfirm this if its correct.
Could a pelvic tilt cause his abs to be less visible? since they get kind of stretched when the pelvic is anteriorly tilted, i have anterior pelvic tilt, and if i flex my glutes to tilt it back where it should be, my abs look alot better..

I would also recommend that you join a gym and get a propper full body workout, it will definitly help you, and getting bigger is all about eating, want to get big? eat more, just make it healthy or you will gain more fat than muscle.

I do sorta walk with a bit of a hunch already:rolleyes:

Thanks for the help but surely cause Im so skinny there cant be fat covering my abs?

Someone said it might be cause I still got a lot of growing to do muscle wise

jupp thats what i think too.. how old are you?
anyways, join a gym, do some research on bulking ;)
and be careful with bodybuilding sites for your research, they generally recommend alot of isolation, which isent all that good, spechally if you are a beginner to weight training.
