Shoulder Injury

My left shoulder dislocates momentarily. This normally occurs when in the surf.
If you raise your arm above your head fully extended. Slowly move your hand backwards and keeping arm extended. When the hand is behind the head, this is where it decides to dislocate.
The joint grinds over and I cant move my arm, it kind of an involuntary movement that literally makes it crack back in with a reverberating pain. Feels like a major dead arm. It hurts for a few days later. I've dislocated it at the gym sitting and using a barbel behind the head.

Does anybody else have or has had a problem like this?!?

I understand that its best for me to see a specialist doctor and get it looked at, but at the moment I cant afford it. But i'm throwing this out incase somebody has some helpful advice or experience.
Please help, i've lately been burdened with many injuries. I'm going to see work about a back injury soon. :(

well what you're describing doesnt sound like a dislocation, more like you're moving your arm not entirely in the right way above your head. the crack noise you hear is not from the joint, but tendons rolling over the joint as you rotate/lift your arm.

and why do you need to lift your arms up till above your head, you're going out of your normal ROM i think. but of course i wouldnt entirely know unless i see a picture or something
