shoulder exercize ?

Is it ok to do upright rows the day after doing shoulder presses.

I want to work out chest and tris on Monday, but i also want to throw shoulder presses into it.

I want to work out back and bis on Tuesday, but i also want to throw upright rows into it.

Would this be overkill or too much stress on my shoulders? Or because one is a push and the other a pull, it will just work different muscles in my shoulder?

Thanks for your help,

Kris

I dont think it matter's whether you use upright rows as a back or shoulder exercise.

After all it is a pulling movement and would fit nicely into your back workout. It's upto you. I personally do them on shoulder day.

I suggest you try it for yourself and see how you feel. Otherwise you may have to stick them on a shoulder day.

In general it would be better to not hit your shoulders on consecutive days, as you won't be allowing enough time to recover. Rules of course are made to be broken, but why mess with it and not just do both shoulder exercises on the same day? What are you doing the other 5 days of the week?

Are you doing dips? Believe it or not they will require your shoulders to be active along with your chest and tri's.

I dont have a dedicated shoulder day, i just do military presses on Chest day, and sometimes i do lateral raises, i just wanted a time ot add upright rows and i couldent figure out a good day to do it.

essentially, the upright row is almost the same as doing lateral raises. Your Shoulder joint in doing abduction in both exercises. The only difference is most people go past 90 degrees abduction in the upright row, and the upper traps will kick in to rotate your shoulder blade upward.

With that said, I consider the upright row to be more of a shoulder exercise than a back exercise.

My suggestion is find another pulling exercise that wouldn't activate your shoulders as much, such as bent over rows, or inverted rows.

I think i wasent clear in making my point, I WANT to add upright rows to my routein. My chest workout is set, my back workout is set. On chest day, i do military presses and occationally laterially raises for my shoulders.

Maybe I can switich it up, remove my shoulder exercizes from chest day and add upright rows to my back day.

your quote...I get it. If you paid attention, you should not do upright rows consecutive days than shoulder presses snd/or lateral raises.

i've always figured that my shoulders would get enough work, just from the other exercizes i do. Now i'm wonering if they actually are. So much learning.

Thanks for your help
