Should I start this or not..?

I've been thinking about learning a martial art for quite some time now. The only thing near me is Jeet Kune Do. I've read some of the other threads here, and it seems as if the general opinion is that Jeet Kune Do is some ****. My goal is to be able to defend myself in the best way. I'm well-trained, weight-lift 4 times in the gym each week, and run about 30 km each week.

As asked in the title: Should I start training Jeet Kune Do or is it not worth it?

Thanks in advance.¨:)

Jeet Kun Do isn't necessarily its own style, its a style that incorporates things that Bruce Lee liked from other styles, mostly wing chun kung fu if I'm not mistaken.

The style doesn't determine the arts effectiveness, the teacher and student does.

Go down & have a talk to the instructor & tell him what you want, & see what he's got to offer. Make a list of ?'s If he's sincere about teaching, he'll have the decency to talk with you.:) Probably after a class, is the best time, Go & watch, if he doe'sn't mind then talk to him. IF he's a decent person & instructor, he'll be more then happy to talk to you, Go in with a open mind & make a judgement call yourself. IF you have any predjuices, that you may have picked up anywhere ?
Do this ( LEAVE THEM AT THE DOOR< DON"T WALK IN WITH THEM), because you may miss out on an oportunity, to learn something. IT's your call, GOODLUCK:)

IT's a shame you have, picked up on that negativity about this style, I've found the same attitude on other things that have come out of martial arts also , eg dynamic tension, isometrics.
