Should I get a personal trainer?

Here is my issue:
my left butt is a lot bigger than the right. I first noticed it about a year ago and it has been getting worse, to the point where I am embarrassed and am always trying to hide it. I am small, 5'3 and about 115, so it is kinda obvious. I don't know what to do to either make the right side bigger or the left side smaller so that they match. Should I hire a trainer? What should I do?
Thanks so much!

How old are you? An asymmetry like that can be indicative of a major postural/structural issue, because the muscle shouldn't develop like that. You should have a physical therapist look at you to detect muscle dysfunction or structural/musculoskeletal irregularities: a normal personal trainer would have no idea how to even begin to do that. Obviously, unilateral work would be part of the prescription (along with appropriate stretches, mobility drills and activation drills for the underlying issue), with a 3:1 ratio in volume for weak/small side:strong side (i.e. same amount of weight, but lowered volume for the larger side).

You really should have someone qualified assess what's going on there. If it really is that big of a difference, that can lead to more issues down the road.

Best of luck.
