Hello all,

I am excited about this forum - it looks like there a lot of great people out there with genuine questions about weight loss. I am the administrator for the weight loss forum with Weight Loss Center . I enjoy sharing my knowledge of weight loss with others and learning too as I go so I joined this forum for this reason.

I hope to be able to give some helpful advice and learn some new stuff about what's going on in the weight loss and diet worlds.

Thanks, Weight Loss

Welcome, and I already have a question!

Thanks for joining the board- hope you can give some info on Hydoxycut. I've never bought into the notion that any diet pills work. I lost my first 40 pounds on diet and exercise, almost 2 pounds per week. I stopped for awhile, and now am back on my same program. My good friend who lives in another state had a baby this fall and is also on a weight loss program. she told me she started taking Hydroycut caffiene free to help her get a jump start and it was working really well. So I decided to give it a try. I did take a chromium supplement (even though there's debate on whether it's effective in weight loss) last time and the Hydroxydut has chromium...so I gave it a shot, hoping it would help motivate me to not slack off about the gym or my diet.

So I began taking them as recommended: 2 capsules an hour before each meal with a full glass of water. I didn't notice anything really. Until I got on the scale the next week and had lost four pounds. Then the week after, another five pounds. Then I got sick and didn't go to the gym for a week and a half and didn't take the pills while I was sick.

Well I have been better and back on my food and exercise plan for the last two weeks, but I GAINED three pounds! What happened? Did hydroxycut have anything to do with this? Did it cause me to lose the weight so rapidly? Was it "water weight" or what? And because I stopped taking them did that cause the weight gain?

Before I proceed and take them again I'd like to know what the deal is with them and why I lost so much weight that quickly. I'd rather just satick with my original plan if thee pills cause a rapid weight loss and then setting me up to gain it all back!

Hydroxycut

Great question!

As you know, Hydroxycut is a diuretic. That is why, in order to prevent dehydration while on this drug, you need to consume lots of water.

So, needless to say, if you stopped taking Hydroxycut for a week, you probably would see some weight gain simply due to water. Of course, your weight gain, or part of it, may have been due to your inactivity during your illness, changes in your diet, and changes in your body and metabolism that contributed most. Your weight gain could have been due to many factors.

I was relieved to see that you are taking the non-caffeine Hydroxycut, but to be honest, I wouldn't recommend continuing to take this diet pill, even if you aren't experiencing side-effects. If you are interested, I would recommend this article on .

From what you wrote, it sounds like you were doing great with regular exercise and diet - there is no better way to lose weight than this! My suggestion would be to stick to that if it was working for you. Diet pills, whether they are prescription or herbal, all have effects on our bodies, many known and some unknown. The best way to lose weight and keep it off is exercise, diet and establishing healthy eating habits.

I wish you all the best, keep up the great effort!

Weight Loss;)
