sharp neck pain

Recently I've been getting a sharp pain in the side of my neck sometimes as I lift my head back to an upright position after tilting my head to stretch it. (If that makes sense)
Kinda like as if I was trying to put my ear on my shoulder, and then as I tilt my head back again theres a sharp pain. I'm pretty sure it's to do with weightlifting but I haven't tested to see if it only happens right after I work out or not.

Any ideas what it good be or what I'm doing to cause it?

Could be something as simple as a pulled neck muscle. I'd take some time off from exercise (3-5 days) and see if it subsides. If not then it's time for a trip to the doc.

Neck injuries are not a thing to mess with... you could have a herniated disk or even a (stress) fractured vertebrae, so get in to see the doc if it does not get better.
