Sharing a milestone

I just wanted to share something.

I weighed 321 pounds in July and started losing weight. I started lifting weights in September in addition to the diet and exercise I had already started. Needless to say I could never do a push up do to how much I weighed and the fact I didn't work out.

Well today, weighing 275 pounds and 5 months of lifting behind me I wanted to see how close I was to doing a pushup. I got on all fours and to my shock...I was able to do one. On my hand and toes in perfect form. I went very close to the ground because I'm still heavy, but was able to push myself up in a fairly fluid motion.

Thanks for reading.

yay!!! next time it will be two...then three!! wooohooooooooo!!

It's been an interesting 10 minute google... :)

with tons of differing opinions...

I'll defer to steve's brilliance but a number i've seen come up pretty regularly is 60 percent.. so that if can do a pushup at 275 lbs - a bench of 165lbs wouldn't be unreasonable- However I don't suggest skipping off to thje gym and attempting that straight away... :D

Hey, thanks a lot for looking that up! I don't know my bench press because I don't have a spotter and prefer to be a loner in the gym and just get my workout done.

Congratulations! I honestly know how this feels.

When I first started playing soccer, we had to do push-ups in warm-ups. I couldn't do one. I didn't have the form right. Now, after losing thirty more pounds, I can do thirty in succession. It's amazing really, the feeling of accomplishment you get doing something so small.
