How much weight do you want to lose? I would like to lose about 130-135 lbs.

What is the time frame for reaching your target weight? My time frame to reach my target is a year to 1 1/2

How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? Exercise, portion control and healthy food selections will be my keys to achieving my goals.

How realistic is your goal? My goal is very realistic and reachable.

When will you start? hopefully I will start Thursday.(dr's appt on Wed.)

Hi. :D I'm Shanikia, 26 yrs old from Alabama. I currently weigh in at about 276 lbs, 5'6" and body can't tolerate it any longer. I want to enjoy my life to the fullest. I haven't been able to with some much extra weight. I have started to make some changes: drink at least 2.5 L of water , walking instead of taking the elavator. I'm really trying to make to my goal. I have a great support system at home (my husband and family), at work and now you guys. Thanks in advance for your encouragement and support!

Praying to be thinner and healthier in 2008!!

Welcome to Weight Loss Forum. It is great that you have decided to take the steps toward a healthier life. I wish you the best in your efforts and hope you can reach your goals. I'm sure I will "see" you around the forum:)

A pictures worth a thousand words!!

 My husband took a picture of me last night for my "before" shot and OMG. I was shocked. I'm still wondering who that lady is and what's she doing in my house. It really didn't sink in how fat I am until I saw the picture. Now I'm more determined than before to shed this "fat lady". She has to go!!!!!!!

Welcome to WLF! It's great to see you started yourself a weightloss diary here. I believe you'll totally reach your goals... so good luck! :D Oh, and I did the same thing today, had my husband take before pictures of me, omg! I about cried... :( anyway... welcome welcome! :) See you around the fourms...

Hi Shanikia,
Welcome to the WLF and to your new diary.

You will be so happy you took those before pictures. Having them to look back on is very exciting! Be sure to take plenty of pictures along the way - I think it helps the mind's eye get used to seeing the new you as you lose weight.

It might seem overwhelming when you're looking down the scale of more then 100 pounds to lose - believe me, I've been there, but you know what? All those pounds come off the same way - one at a time...you CAN do this :)

I joined Weight Watchers today! I'm looking over the info now. I think that is a good start. Small steps are better than no steps.

How are you doing today? Staying encouraged? counting cals? getting exercise? Are we playing 20 questions? lol

I just wanted to pop in and check on you. Hope you are feeling great!

Thanks. I'm doing good:) . Three days now and i'm feeling good. I decided to do the flex plan which I track points. I've stayed within my points so far. This time just seems different but in a good way. I feel that I'm going to make it this time. I think I'm determined to do this. In the past, I didn't feel determined. I would say that I was going to lose weight but those were just words. Now I have had more action and determination to those words. Lord knows I have to lose weight for myself and my family. I keep think that when I lose the weight I'll be able to play w/ our children the way I want to and the way the deserve. What a great day it will be! I went grocery shopping to get healthier food for my family. I did get them some treats but I also got myself some. That way I would be depriving myself of treats.

The beginning of the end of my fatness!!!!:D

Sounds like you're staying positive! Thats great! Pictures are awful aren't they? I just had my grad formal (teachers college) and feel like a big cow now, and that was AFTER a week of eating healthy and exercising...definitely a low day. lol

BUT I find the points or calorie counting systems are good because it means that you can still have 'junk' food once in awhile without feeling majorly guilty as long as you stay within your points or calories. I have a great program on my computer that tells me how I'm doing and I love it!

Keep up the great work :)

~nic~

PS: DRINK LOTS OF WATER - it makes you feel great!
