Sex & Bodybuilding

This question I dont think has ever arose in any forum or been mentioned by any perfessional bodybuilder. But here goes, right semen, is so I read is suppose to consist entirely of protein and it makes sense as its part of the building blocks of life.

My question is, if you have alot of sex doesn't that not limit your muscle growth potential when bulking?

I thought I wud ask it as its never been brought up b4, another interesting thought would be do the pro's go celibate prior to when a competition looms close?

Other then sapping energy you might need for a workout it has no ill effects.

Consider it a great form of aerobics.

Interesting question, Suddy. I never looked at it dat way. But remember - its not as if your body shoots out of a lot of protein. So I dont think it messes anything up. But here's my question about sex and weight lifting:

Does sex increase / decrease testosterone levels? Lets say it decreases. Dat means stay away from f u c k i n g so ur testosterone levels stay high, helping to grow powerful muscles. Or lets say it increase testosterone. Dat means its great to f u c k to make urself buffer. Any suggestions?

I would give up sex for a certain amount of time for a bigger body. That way once I have that body, I'll be getting twice as much sex as before.

Well, if a man isn't having sex he's most likely masterbating and still lowering his testosterone...and if you are in the 1 percentile who doesn't, you will release your sperm during your sleep for the same effect. So why not have some fun while you are at it? No way to escape it

"the question is, who would give up sex for a bigger body? That borders on obsessive compulsive!"

Damn right it is. Most of us bodybuild a lot for the sole purpose of having moreso. I know I do.

I'm not the promiscuous type so it won't really matter whether I'm ripped or not...but of course I want to look as good and be as healthy for my woman as possible. I'm probably about 50% of what I could be right now

underfoot said it.
and about semen being made of protein: while its true, its not like NOT using semen allows your body to turn that protein into muscle. your body creates semen, and stores it (obviously you couldnt make semen on demand). once its stored, it WONT go back into you body for use for other things.

so the protein used to make semen is lost whether it, er, comes out or not, so um... have fun

If you really don't want to loose the few grams of protein in your semen, then tie a rubber band around your sac and after a few days it will drop off and hit the ground. (i hope that's disturbing enough)

"All you women should be paying attention. Pure protien, think about it."

LMAO, that is disgusting and insiteful all at the same time. I guess the girls of the world have alternatives if they don't want to dish out the cash for protein supplements. ;)

lol alyspeach

I've found out the facts we all wanted to know, all should be interested.

[q]Will ejaculation cause testosterone levels to go down?

Masturbation is very unlikely to decrease testosterone levels. Semen is not the source of testosterone so ejaculation will not cause levels to change.

All other things being equal, increased sexual activity - including masturbation - tends to increase testosterone levels. But these levels depend upon many factors including age, time of day, overall level of physical activity, and general health.

Psychological factors can cause changes in testosterone levels: levels go up in men who believe they are going to become more sexually active, levels can be affected by whether a person knows in advance that he will be test for testosterone, and so forth.[/q]

I'm a bodybuilder and as you may know, bodybuilders need lots of protein. This is why I'm concerned as to how much protein semen contains, because I like sex alot with my girlfiend. Is there a significant amount? I read somewhere that you get more protein from an M&M then you do from your semen. Is this true?

Semen contains, on average, about 6 milligrams of protein per teaspoon. The protein is created inside your body from the foods you eat. Sex or Masturbation is unlikely to have any impact on your ability to build muscle; and is more likely to do you good than harm.

If you need more protein to build bigger muscles, increase your protein intake rather than stopping Sex or masturbation.

I have no knowledge of the nutritional content of M&Ms, though I suspect that the carbohydrate content makes them less than ideal as a nutritional supplement for increasing protein intake.[/q]

In other words it uses very little protein, 6 milli grams is nothing as theres 1000 in 1 gram.
