Serious Leg pain: Working out after years

After an aerobics class,

My left knee kills and my right ankle is swelled. I stopped working out, and its been 10days. It only gets worser.

I tried heat patch/ cold patch, bandage, ointments nothing seem to work.

I initially thought post soreness, but after 10days, Is it anything to worry abt? I can hardly walk. Cant rest much as I have a 1yr old, who I carry around a lot.

Any tips to keep off the pain?? Please !!!

see a doc. If you had swelling, it's more than just some DOMS and if it's not getting better, then you need to do something about it. Unfortunately, no one can diagnose anything over the internet :(

Have you only been going 10 days? and just new to working out?

I'm curious about how much impact and movement is involved in your aerobics class it's a pretty general tag "aerobics."

I'd back off and probably start out with a more mild intro to working out. Jogging, light weight circuit, stretching/yoga for a while. After you've gotten your muscles and joints used to weight being and testing the flexibility I'd go back to aerobics. It might be much if you're just starting and you'll undoubtedly get burned out on it altogether if the soreness persists.

You might begin your day with a 5-minute "joint mobility" drill. When I do it I start with my feet, ankles, knees, hips, back, neck arms etc. Bottom up. Doing unweighted...circular motions toe planted and moving your heel clockwise then counterclockwise, switch feet. Feet planted together, hands on knees move both knees together clockwise, then counter clockwise. Hands on hips move hips clockwise, then counterclockwise. Hands on hips, hips don't move-rotate upper torso, etc, repeat with neck arms, wrists...try it for a while. Taking med's and seeing a doctor probably isn't needed unless you have a pulled muscle, tear or tissue/joint damage.

Good luck,

MG

Thankyou karky & sugarloaf.
The aerobics wasnt difficult and I didnt feel the pain while doing it. I have no idea where I got this from. I did warm up before starting...will go to the doc tomorrow.
