seperated shoulder

i just seperated my shoulder for the second time in 6 months. Both times were playing ice hockey. The first time i had a forth degree seperation, and i guess this time it wasn't as bad. the ortho dr. i went to see said i probably just have a contusion or might have torn my rotator cuff. neither ortho dr i've seen was all that concerned with bothering with surgury. i am concerned, however, that if surgury wont help me then how likely is this to happen again. although both times seemed to feel the same, in that how painful it is to move certain ways. i have a large bump between my shoulder and collar bone from the first time this happened. i was just wandering what other people's experiences have been with seperated shoulders and whether surgury is a good idea. i also was wandering whats the best way to rehab it.

thanks for any help or advice

Seperated Shoulder

Hello, My name is Tyler McGee and I Seperated my right shoulder about 3 months ago and then went to Physio and it was fine and now its bothering me again but anyways the biggest thing I noticed with mine is that my right arm is significantly shorter than my left arm. And I also have the bump between the collar bone and the shoulder. I seperated the A C Joint I think it was. What I found relieved it the most was a product called, "Biofreeze" it kind of freezes the joints so you can temproraily not feel pain. If you find it I think it will help a lot.

P.S. Physio therapy is the probably the best way to go because you don't surgery unless it is so badly seperated that your shoulder is elevated about 4-6 inches.
