Seeking guidance

Hello all.
I am a 17 year old male, I weigh somewhere around 220 pounds, with an estimated body fat index of about 20%.
My goal is not to lose weight, but to burn off fat and boost muscle mass. My goal is not a specific number; I would simply like to get rid of the fat that layers over my muscles. That said, my ultimate goal is to lose the excess fat over my abs, pecs, and legs by the end of may.
I have access to a garage wheel and pulley weight system, jogging is not an option here, but I have taken to jumping rope, and I am willing to follow an eating regimen that would not be listed as a fad diet.
Any help you can offer is appreciated, my main concerns are what I should be eating (throughout life, not to crash my weight) and the duration/intensity/frequency of jumping rope.
Danke.

Spockfina will get you the skinny on any diet programs you want to look at. She is the nutrition guru here :D She gives good advise (I still won't eat any more than I am right now...but the info is sound). Take a look at some other diets on this board. There are some good plans here. None of us follow any of the body hurting fad diets.

As far as working out...I love the Rocky Balboa gym set up. My only advice for you is to get a body fat caliper. I know you stated you don't have a specific number in mind, but you should have something around to judge your achievements.

Also…look around on google for body weight exercises. There is a bunch of things you can do without going to the gym.

Hope this helps…let the questions flow.

Does anyone know what duration/intensity/frequency should be practiced when jumping rope for cardio benefits?
