Hey Everyone,

I am 19 years old girl and have been overweight almost all of my life. I currently weigh about 240, and I am starting a new lifestyle and I am going to lose weight (so positive!) My problem is the fact that I have a lot of weight to lose, and I am scared after I lose weight I will have saggy or lose skin. I would almost rather be overweight then have saggy skin. I was just wondering if there was anyone who had any advice, or could uplift my spirits about this. Thank you guys very much!

Howdy and welcome and goodluck to ya! As far as lose skin I would take it
1 day at a time I am a little scared of that to but what I looked in a bathing suite last year and what I am starting to look in 1 now is much better with the extra skin in compares to just being overweight I am hoping tho with diet and exersice it will shrink somewhat still.
Plus I was 255 and was overweight alot of my life I don't think excess skin will be as bad say if you weighed 400+ and had gastric bypass that results in fast weightloss.Just take it slow and remeber to get alot of exersiceing in,Tammy:)

Let me tell you, that at age 19 you probably won't have much saggy skin. If you do strength training and gain lean muscle and lose the weight slowly, your skin is young and should be flexible enough to snap into the right position.

I agree with the above poster. At 19 your skin will "bounce back." Make sure to keep it moisturized (cocoa butter lotion). Weight training, or swimming will keep it toned. If you loose at a slow steady rate, you're skin should adjust while you are loosing.

I lost roughly 60 pounds in High School and had no saggy skin.

You are young, your skin wont sag

Your body will look great

Agreed, that young you aren't even fully developed. Your skin is very elastic still. If you lose the weight now, your skin will likely be just fine. Don't let that hold you back. If you keep "just being overweight" you will only get bigger and older and your skin will just get worse. Take advantage of your situation.

Don't worry! They're all pretty right on, skin is AMAZING at that age! Heredity and genetics play a large role, too, though. Weight train and eat a collagen-friendly diet of fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains, nuts and salmon (if you eat that kind of stuff). I heard that's a great diet to improve the appearance of cellulite. Hang in there! Plenty of people whoi have been overweight their whole life can get slim!

I am 19, 255lbs currently (I started at 280) and I have this same fear. I am trying to lose about 100lbs within 6 months, so I hope my skin can keep up with me. But I really really do think that now is the best time for us to do this, while our skin is so young and supple.

Thats a good point about moisturizing though, I will have to start doing that more rigorously.
