Hello,
I am really glad I found this website where I can share my weight loss journey. I am 23 yrs old, college senior, employed part-time at the university, I have 2 chihuahuas, and I play the violin.

Here's a little bit of my "story" I was always the skinny---VERY SKINNY! girl in the family. I was nicknamed "Flaca" which is Spanish for thin. So, during my childhood and most of my adolescent years I was care-free regarding to my weight. At 15 yrs old I was 5'7 and weighed no more than 115lbs. But (and i don't mean to blame anybody) I moved to USA at that age and that is when my weight problems started.

Believe it or not before coming to the USA I have never been inside a McDonald's or a buffet. The two main reasons for this were lack of money and culture. We were raised eating at home and never eating out. The most we would venture out of our zone was a local chicken place and it was once every 2-3 months. So as a child I only ate home made meals and nothing else. So, when we moved to Texas I met the big macs, fries, diary queen, and an abundance of cheap buffets!!

I was gaining weight every month. I was like a starved in a room full of food; anything and everything was worthy of stuffing myself. Who knew if i was going to afford another buffet? I had to eat everything to make my money's worth. So in 5 years I went from 115lbs to 169lbs (same height).

I became very depressed and resorted to purging and binging not knowing how to lose weight the right way. I quickly went down to 135lbs after abusing laxatives, diet pills, purging and what not! but as it was expected i gained EVERYTHING and more back.

So here I am now! trying to get to 140lbs (at least) and be myself again.

Hello Sara and welcom to the forum...I am happy you are deciding to to this the hard but healthy way.....You will find a ton of support over here!....TAke it one day at a time and you will succeed!

Good luck but you already lost 1 pd so you are already on your way! I really hate how it seems more expensive to eat healthier.. it should be the other way around lol

I think its awesome you are starting your journey because it will get hectic when you get a full-time job so it's always nice to start working on the healthy habits so when things are crazy you don't rule out working out. My friend works 10 hours and goes straight to the gym after work! I call her the health warrior! She's an inspiration.

Wow gym after 10 hours of work? I wish I had that kind of energy.. I can get through the day by taking at least one 15-30mins nap :) but I get up at 5am everyday. I usually work out at night which is bad (I know) because I can't sleep afterward but at night is when I have more energy.

How much are you trying to lose?

I am trying to lose 28 now :) But I started in Jan at 160ish and my last official weigh in was 153 at the beginning of the month. I will do another one at the beg of March. So far signs are definitely positive! I totally feel for you doing it the unhealthy way and then gaining more back :( It totally shattered my max from 144 pds to 160 something! So I am never doing that again. Hope your weight loss is doing well :) It's nice to start now rather then panic a month before you want to wear something or have a trip or anything.
