Sakamoto Pull ups?

Can someone please tell me what exactly sakamoto pull ups are for? Like in this video... Go to crossfit.com and down to ''Misc. Demos'' and click on video called ''pull-ups,pregnant''

What purpose does this serve if you are kicking to get up to the top at each time? I have seen a lot of pull ups like this at crossfit.com. It seems to me you would be doing a pull up wrong if you used that momentum everytime to pull yourself up... Would that mean she just can't do a conventional pull up and that is why she is having to kick? I know it has nothing to do w/ her being pregnant because, like I said, many of the pull ups demonstrated on Crossfit are done the same way.
Thanks !

These people seel to have found a way to "pass" a pullup test even if you don't have the upper body strength to do pullups correctly, using your legs and abs. However, if the point of the test is to measure upper body strength, they are cheating themselves and whoever they are taking the test for. They may pass the test but not have the upper body strength required to perform the daily tasks of the job (carrying a weapon, wrestling a suspect, climbing a fence or wall, etc.). It seems they are cheating their employer, their coworkers, and whoever they are supposed to be serving and will eventually get somebody injured to killed (perhaps themselves).

LoL, sounds like a video game - Cynic. :D

I used to do it that was as well, thinking it didn't really take that much away from training, but it pretty much defeats the purpose, eh?
