Russian Twists?

Has anyone tried Russian Twists? I read about the in Men's Fitness. I've tried them before, but I couldn't get the movement down pact, so obviously I didn't see any results LOL.
But for someone who has tried them and done them properly, what kind of results are you seeing?

Upper body or lower?

I've actually had a hard time with both and sort of worked them out of my routines. My balance on the upper body seen was ridiculous. Not a bad video, though. It has me reconsidering.

This variation involved standing while holding a barbell in the corner with a light weight on the end closest to the body. Here's a link to it

That's no form I've never seen before. I'm not saying it isn't, only that I've never seen a russian twist done like that before.

Here's the two upper body versions I know of.

Here's a lower body version:

NOTE: Using weight is a more advanced form.
