Running

Hi there. Im sorry I dont quite understand what HITT means. Woudnt doing intense running for about 15 mins be better than doing HITT? Maybe I dont quite understand. Someone said in a diff thread that HITT would burn fat but not gain muscle. Is this true? I have paralysis on my right side and the muscle that I have on my left side is considerably different than the right side. Im trying to work on the right side as much as possible, but also at the same time I want to burn fat and gain muscle on my stomach. Is HITT better than intense workout for 15 mins on the treadmill or the stepping machine?
Thank you for any advice or comments or anything

Hi June!
HIIT stands for "high-intensity intermittent training". Rather than describing it in length, I'm going to suggest reading the next post "HIIT me with your best shot".
HIIT training is better for fat burning than, say 15 minutes running on a treadmill. It gets your heart rate very high, then gives you a chance to recover, and repeats this sequence.
It is very strenuous, and recommended for people already in pretty good shape.

Besides burning fat, HIIT training has been shown to "save" muscle tissue. That is, while aerobic training can cause you to lose muscle tissue (you dont want that), HIIT training spares it.
