to anyone who started running at a larger size, can i ask how quickly you progressed? i did 2km easally last week and just wondered how long it would take take me to get upto 10k

The main thing is not being able to do it, but letting your joints and muscles learn to support you correctly. Whilst you may be able to do 10 km tomorrow, your knees and shins and everything else will not handle the weight.
I always wondered why they made them run on biggest loser, it was the worst exercise they could really have done!
Have a look at the couch 2 5km program at - stick with something like that is a good thing.
No matter how frustrating and boring it can be, its best to stick with slowly incrementing your distance by 10% per week maximum i think it is (or was that every 2 weeks?) So starting really slowly, and moving up.

c25k

just read the C25k. I am soooo gonna do it! I am new to running and having been looking for a good program to start. This seems really great. I am excited! Buying my treadmill tomorrow. (Its been too cold and icy to run outside) I started running in october, at first I couldn't do 2 minutes of running straight. Worked my way up to 15minutes but the weather came and threw me off. So I am starting again when my treadmill comes tomorrow. How long have you guys been running?
