Running in the morning, how about swimming?

Sure we all heard of running in the morning on a empty stomach to burn those fat, but what about swimming in the morning on a empty stomach? Will it also give results like running and burn those unwanted fat? Since both are cardio they should acheive the same results right?
 
If by results you mean fat loss and heart exercise, then sure. But the muscles used are different, if that is a concern for you.
 
Swimming done at the same intensity as running will expend 4 times the amount of energy. However, it's a lot harder to keep up the intensity in swimming unless of you course you walk for you cardio.

On another note, the extra calories supposedly burned from fasted state aren't very much more than having eaten...in other words, there's really no benefit. You should target over all calories and not just fat or you're going to be doing a lot of cardio.
 
yeah but if i did wake up in the morning with no fodd and wehnt swimming the amount of calories burnt would be fat meaning i would be burning some amount of fat that morning so there is some benefits

It's not quite the case that just because you do cardio in a fasted state that you will burn fat. You're better off at least having a protein shake or part of a protein shake to stave off catabolism.

Also consider that a small snack before your morning workouts will fuel your body for the workout session. You will be able to "do" more in your session.

I've played with this for a long time and I can tell you from personal experience it is best to eat something before a workout.

As long as your heart rate is around 65-75 % of your max heart rate when performing cardio, then yes, you will burn fat at the same rate.
 
eat before cardio, i made that mistake and lost a hell of alot of muscle trying to lose the fat, i recon the muscle mass burnt quicker than the bodyfat because at the end of it i was underweight but still fat!, i felt tired and shakey after morning cardio sessions. that was 2 yrs ago, since ive started to eat more before traing the fat reduction has continued, i feel alot healthier, and i'm steadily gaining lean mass, if the body was designed to work on a fasted state the average bricklayer would be eating 1 meal per week! think about it

The only way you will lose the amount of muscle you did is if your diet was not manuipulated to maintain muscle mass.

Yes, but we're talking over long sessions...at least 45+ plus to make much of a dent in our energy expenditure. I'm referring to the point where we're actually in a complete oxidative system use.

I suppose the end result is just a personal perference; I'm only saying that fasted state cardio is not nearly beneficial as it's made out to be.
