run then weights or vice versa?

Hey all, I'm 47 and have started back working out again, since I have so much free time. I have a past martial arts history so I know a little about what I want to do. My question is: should I run first (which is what I do) then hit the weights. Or should I hit the weights then run? I'm drinking protein shakes and improving real good on my strenght. I have also added creatine and try to eat right. Another problem I have is the shakes. I can't drink one before I work out. I feel too full. I can drink water though. Is the shake post workout good? I am presently 5'8" 176lbs, run a 1 1/4 daily. This is a pretty good site with some really good info. Thank yall alot.

Unless you run in the morning and workout with weights in the evening, I would say do weights first. You need the most energy you have for them. You should have your protein shake after you workout. Water should be implemented all throughout the day, including before, during, and after a workout. Diet is the most important part, make sure you get that down pretty well. You should be getting most of your protein for the day from whole foods. PWO shakes are good. Good luck.

When i worked out with my friend we would lift weights for an hour , then run a mile, and finish lifting for 15 minutes or so since we seemed to get a second wind that way... Forget about the creatine, i dont think it really works, and try to have a few shakes throughout the day so your body constantly has some protein...
