Run every day?

I am extremely out of shape, and I guess am even classified as Obese, which seems odd to me, but I don't make those charts.

I am ~250lbs (~113kg)... not exactly 'light on my feet', lol.

Anyways, I have decided to finally get in shape, and after being talked out of a gym membership (thank goodness), I decided to just go for runs, and eat healthier. My question is whether or not I could/should run every day? I went for my first half-mile run yesterday, and I felt terrible for about a half hour afterwards, but felt perfectly fine after that. I was thinking of running every day after work, now, but I don't want to do it if it's somehow bad for me.

I really need to get into shape for obvious health reasons, so running every day sounds like a good plan to me, but I am extremely clueless to anything fitness, which is exactly why I'm here.

Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I've been running every other day for a while now and my weight is starting to plateau. Would running every day increase my muscle mass and actually make me look heavier if I started? I'm around 120 and a little over 5'4" and would like to be a solid 115.

I don't believe that running every day is recommended. There are lots of good training plans online that could help guide you. I have done couch 2 5k and really like it. Runners World has some on their website for various levels of fitness and goals. It is important to do cross training as well as take rest days. These will be built into a good program.

it shouldn't. how long are you running for a distance? balance out your food intake, and what you burn. you may have muscle mass, but i dont think it'd be that great....just keep doing it i think it shold go okay

At over 250 lbs, I wouldn't recommend running at all, never mind every day. You run the risk of all sorts of problems with your feet, knees and hips due to the high impact of running. I would look into other training exercises, and leave the running for a time when you have lost some weight. Your joints will thank you.

If you just started and not fit yet! Do it every other day! And not for long maybe only for 35 min! Make sure you stretch after that enough and dring also enough water!
With the time your fitness level will increase and you ll be able to run for an hour or more everyday

Have you ran in the past month? You should feel great after finishing your run, not terrible. You shouldn't be running for that distance right off the bat. If you want to do it everyday, start walking for shorter distance, then gradually make it to 1/2 mile. Once you reach your 1/2 mile, slowly increase the pace and beat your original time. Rushing into running might do more harm than good because of the high impact your joints are taking.
