Hi all, and good luck with your own journeys. :)

These are my pics.

This pic taken in 2005 at 233lbs. At this time I was pre-diabetic, had high blood pressure, high cholestral and couldnt lie down comfortable as i thought i might cut off my wind pipe and suffocate. I was in the worst shape of my life, and I knew then I had to do something.
I cut down on my food and started exercising and lost 16lbs - but my heart wasn't completely in it and I just stopped losing, but I maintained that weight.

233lbs

On July 28th 2006 I finally had a serious 'lightbulb' moment and weighing in at 217lb I started the final end of my journey. I don't know how i have managed to stick at it, I seem to have found some sort of hidden drive in me that I didnt know i had!!!!
By Xmas I was down to 187lbs and able to wear something nice rather than what 'fit' and 'covered' a multitude of sins! basicly I got to wear what I wanted to wear - a little(ish) black number ;)

187lbs

Then this month I hit the 50lbs lost mark and I can't tell you how good I am feeling. My blood pressure is normal and I exercise everyday.
183lbs in same shorts as at 233lbs

at 183lbs having a bit of a pose in white jeans! (White jeans where something I had wanted for a long time!)

I have 30lbs left to go, wish me luck!!! :)

Hi, thanks for your comments!
Well it took me 35years to find my hidden drive, so don't give up! I think my health scares kind of helped me find it... eventually!
Just a shame i had to get to that stage before I started looking after myself, but hey ho! later is better than never they say...:)
and you've lost 7lb, so you must be finding your drive from somewhere :)

Great job Rowan! Very encouraging also. I, too finally had a light bulb go on due to some health issues. Thank goodness the health issues are things that can be corrected with just some changing of habits. I just wish I had that light bulb go off sooner too. Yes, as they say it's never too late. So, I have started my journey. It will be a long one, as I have a lot of weight to lose. I am taking it one day at a time. I am new to this forum so any and all encourage is welcomed. Again, great job, you look great.

thanks changeforlife! it feels good to inspire people, as my very first searches on the internet where for before and after pictures, i think they say more than words can. I didnt think back then i'd ever be posting mine though!

Hi stinker, good luck with your journey. I found it best not to think about the total weight to lose, but took it in monthly stages as it seemed too much to contemplate otherwise, and you don't have to lose that much to start feeling the benefits. Yes day to day is good, but for myself i had to take it month to month so it felt like i only had to keep at it for 31 days max!
I'm all for tricking my mind into thinking not long now haha.;)
Forums have helped me loads, I'm only here because the one i used has gone down, but i think this one might be better, so I think you've done a great thing posting here. Sometimes, well i have found anyway, encouragement can be lacking from people you know in real life but these sites we all know how important a 'well done and stick with it' can help. Looking forward to seeing your progress stinker :)

Wow we have very very similar goals!!
I started in the 230's as well and my goal is around 155, but im shooting for 165.
I love seeing other in my shoes. How tall are you??? Im about 5'9.5
I have been stuck in the 190's and now im back in the high 190's low 200s'. I need to get back on track and find that drive you are talking about!! Thanks for posting, i know how hard it is to show those pics,,,I could not believe I showed mine!!! I look so horrible!!!

Here is a link to my thread.

Hi ladygonz, unfortunately not as tall as you :( --5ft 7". I think i need to be 6ft 4" to be normal weight ;) i am under tall not fat lol!

I got off track over Xmas, it's easy done but I'm sure you'll be in the low 190's soon if the slight weight gain was recent

Yeh it was hard posting my 233lbs the first time and i never showed anyone them till I was under 200lbs so I could say i don't look like that now! I had it as my screen saver for a while to keep me motivated even though i cringed at it!

The thing with progress photos is though you think you look fine at your current lowest but then when you take more down the road you see yourself before and think why the hell did i think i looked okay?
I'll have a look at yours now :)

WOW! You don't have any back fat anymore and you look amazing!! The pic of you in the white pants and black off the shoulder top looks great on you and you carry it with confidence.

I'm inspired!! Thanks!

Hey Girl,
I cant believe how much in common I have with all the people on here, I have never really been part of a group like this before, its so great to know that we all really do think alike. I can totally relate to the who, "thinking that you look good thing"!! Sometimes I will look in the mirror and think well im not so bad, then I find a picture of my butt!!! I have a ton of pictures of me at 155 and I really have to keep looking at them, that is a very healthy weight for me. Im thinking if i got there again I would be about a size 8-10 genes more like 10 im thinking. I actually have a breast lift scheduled for May 14th. so that is great motivation, my doc says that i should really be the weight I want to be at when he does it. I am going to start a diary today sometime. Look forward to chatting more with ya!!!

connie

ps i got on the scale this morning and i was 200.4 I gained 3lbs in one day, wow!! pizza before bed!!!! yuck!! im not changing my ticker today I will tomorrow!!!!!

Thanks M2m!!
:)
Thanks Deniseo, although there is still some fat on my back but nothing to what it was, to be honest I was unaware of how my back really looked before as I just chose to ignore what I couldn't see lol!;)

Hi Connie, i'd love a breast lift too! I really need one but I am hoping I can kind of lift them with exercise and when there is less of them maybe gravity wont be so much of a problem?, well I'm hoping this is true anyway!!!! please let it be true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

whoooh pizza before bed and a 3lb gain!!! that doesnt sound right :(
I'd say that was a false weight, take the calories over a week and not per day and only get weighed once a week otherwise when you get everyday it can determine a good or bad day i think.

My next weigh day isnt till 8th feb. I was getting weighed everyday but it's not worth being a moody cow for a day if it had gone up 1lb and spoiling everyones fun just cos the scales had got me depressed! I put 1lb on -- everyone suffers!!!! ;)

Your a wise woman....moody cow...LMAO!!!!
oh so true im weighting tomorrow, and then starting then im counting my calories and workouts and i will regroup next sunday, and weight myself, but im putting the scales in the basement for the week!!

well good luck in not sneaking down to the basement for sneaky weigh ins ;)

i was doing a 4 week valentine challenge on the site that has disapeared hence the weigh in 8th feb, all my measurement info was on that site for it :( i didnt keep a written copy so a bit arghhhhhh about it all!

why would a forum just go down? I think a good tip is write down anything important in notebook!

btw any scrapbookers here? I'm going to do one of my weight loss when i get to goal.

Wish You Luck? I think you don't need it!

Wow, you look fantastic! What a transformation! Luck is for gamblers and random chance, I am willing to bet luck had nothing to do with your struggle! Must have been pure effort and hard work on your part!

You are an inspiration to us all!

sirant

Hi sirant you're spot on but a bit of luck added in never hurt anyone ;)
My old forum has re-opened so i wont be on here as much but i'll pop back a few times a week.:)

I can totally relate to this:
and able to wear something nice rather than what 'fit' and 'covered' I also thought i'd suffocate in my sleep, haha!

We're the same height but I started at around 240. My goal is 135 then we'll see.. maybe i'll go down to 115. It's exactly like you said sometimes you get down to a weight and when you look back you think i was still a little chubby. can't wait to see your next pics.

wow you look great!! thats just like me... something triggered me and motivated me to go all the way and I love it! Keep up the good work!!! I will be looking forward to seeing your updated pictures!!! =}
