Hi guys, this is my first post here so be nice
. basicaly ive always had problems with my shoulders subluxing (dislocating and going back in) since i was about 10. im pretty sure i have lax ligaments.
anyway it was getting better, but ive just managed to ruin both of them in 2 weeks doing wrestling. its made me realise how unhealthy i am. i work out 5 days a week lifting weights, wrestling and boxing, so i thought i was healthy but im not.
i am having some time off heavy exercise so i thought i would make the most of it to sort my body out. i realised that all that heavy lifting has messed up my posture by strengthening my chest too much and its overpowering my back leading to scapula imbalance. i also cant run very far or anything like that because my asthma puts me off cardio training (but i can work past it if i want to).
anyway ive decided i want to use this time off to get genuinly healthy instead of just looking it. so i was wondering if you guys could help me with a few things.
1) rotator cuff exercises. dose anyone know any nice ones to help stregnthen them?
2) exercises in general. i want to try and keep looking as ok as possible despite my time out of the gym. i was wondering about cycling and swimming to keep in shape. although ive heard some people say swimming strengthens the rotator cuff and others say it weakens it so im not sure.
3) how can i sort out my various imbalances (muscular and spinal)? my right side is stronger than my left and my front is stronger than my back. i need to sort out my scapula and neck / spine (getting thrown around and put in headlocks for 180 mins a week has hurt my back to the point that last week i started to get a migraine after training).
4) a decent diet. i know a little about nutrition due to weightlifting but i have a feeling the attitude of 'eat everything you can with protein in' isnt too healthy for my kidney. ive also head that low calorie / calorie restricted diets are healthy and that fasting improves life expectancy.
im booked in for an MRI scan on both shoulders and a followup session with a specialist but because of the NHS its a few months away and i cant move it closer. what can i do in the mean time? thanks in advance
