Well... Hm. Guess I'm doing this now. Let's see... First, I'll introduce myself.
My name is... Wait, I shall give you only my Internet name. Call me Rokan.
I'm a 23-year-old male. I'm 5 feet 10 inches tall, and I'm approximately 300-310 pounds. Not very pretty.
I've been a big guy for as long as I can remember. Right out the womb, I was a chunky baby. (Mom said I was her most difficult birth and I was her 4th child.) In the 5th grade, I weighed 150-odd pounds. By my senior year in high school, I was 250. During and after a brief college stint, things went more and more downhill.
I'm still living at my parents. And i don't have a real job. Yeah yeah, I know, the usual: a hopeless, jobless nerd living with his parents. Hue hue hue.
But I'm not the cliche Jabba the Hutt-esque nerd who never leaves his room and is generally bad tempered towards people especially on the Internet. While I'm a bit socially awkward in person, I'm very relaxed and I often get up to clean around the house. I babysit my 3-year-old nephew (who never sits still for more than a few seconds) once a week. I like to play video games, but not for extremely long periods of time, and not all night long. I like to get out when I can, especially if I've been cooped up for a long time. And for a while since last year up until this April, I was taking care of my mother, who was undergoing treatment for breast cancer. (She is cancer-free now)
I'm very lucky to have a roof over my head and food to eat despite my joblessness. But, I want to turn around my life, and I guess the best place to start is with my weight.
My diet has... never been good. Fast food, junk food, sodas amongst other bad things were a plague in my house. On top of that, I ingested massive amounts of it. We've gotten better stuff in the pantry, but it hasn't helped the fast food part much.
We've all tried dieting before, but the efforts died off a week into it, usually. My mom is a factor in this. She is the pickiest person in the world. She hates fish and does not like healthier food alternatives. She'll even turn her nose up on lean ground beef on the complaint that its too dry to her.
So, my plan? Well, it's very simple. I'll be changing things but its not a calorie counting type thing. First of all, no sodas whatsoever, and no drinking of calories if I can help it. In other words: Water, water, water. I'll need to take caffeine pills for a few weeks so caffeine withdrawal won't turn me into a headachy grouch.
As for food: lots of lean proteins. Lean meat, fish, beans, protein bars, protein shakes, etc. etc. Also veggies. I love some steamed brocolli. I'll have to fix my meals separate from my parents. Oh yeah, and no fast food.
We have a treadmill now, so I'm going to walk an hour per day. I will up the intensity as I get more in shape.
I may add some exercises and stuff later, but for now, I'll stick with this plan. I'm hoping to lose 100 pounds by the time I'm 25.
I'll be starting this adventure this coming Monday, the 15th. Until then, I'm going to pick up a few things from the grocery store and prepare myself mentally for this, as it will not be easy.
So, lets see what happens. It'll be interesting.
