Right side stronger than left

I'm 18, and have been training seriously for about a year.

I've come to notice that my left side is less developed than my right. It makes sense because I'm right handed, but I try to work out my left side more but it doesn't seem to work.

My left arm is significantly less developed than my right, and my left pec (while only slightly noticeable) is less deveolped than my right. My right side of my stomach has a '3-pack', while my left side is only a '2-pack'

Somebody please help!

Hello and welcome to the forums.

Try doing lots of bodyweight exercises such as push ups. These force you to use both sides of your body evenly. Try a routine like this once or twice a week:

- Put a wall clock in front of you.
- Do as many push ups as you can in 20 seconds.
- Rest for 10 seconds.
- Repeat 8 times for a total of 4 minutes.

This is a very intense workout which will even out your chest nicely.

I experienced this when I injured my right shoulder. My friend filmed me doing pull-ups. My left shoulder was coming up faster in order to compensate the strength loss in the right one.

The abs could just be a genetic thing, not everyone has a symetrical 6 pack. For start your abs are a single sheet of muscle, not individual ones so getting an imbalance like that would be difficult.

With regards to your left and right hand side that's pretty common, I've had it in the past with my legs as I had a major hamstring injury in my right leg during my teens which left me using my left leg more. I found the best way to combat it was to do a lot of single leg (unilateral) movements.

I've got the same thing, but in my calves, the left one is a lot smaller and i dont get it at all. I've tried single leg squats and I know they don't really work the calves but I don't really know what else to do :(

Thanks for all of your input, I apprecaite it.

My biggest concern is my abs at this point. I know for my arm and my pec I basically just have to use my left arm more [or work it out more] But I wasn't sure if working it out more was causing it to actually stay smaller, since I've been trying that for a while and it hasn;t been going to well.

I read that uneven abs are genetic on a few forums, but it's not just that my abs are 'uneven', which they are, one side is alot less developed than they other.

should I try to work out my left side of my abs more than my right?
