Resistance Bands and Muscle Building

I was wondering if resistance bands were any good for muscle building, and not just toning.. I don't really have access to a gym right now so yeah..

I saw sites showing you know those 300 pound guys that are 99.9% muscle and crap which makes it look kinda fake and corny..so I wanted to ask you guys.
 
The problem with resistance bands is that you cant really do a lot with them. you'd be better off with dumbells.

I don't really have much weight lifting experience..so would these be a good alternative to weights until after new years eve? I can join a gym its just that I have to wait for christmas
 
You'll find that more experiance and 'know how' are required in using resiatance bands than weights.

1 month is not loong to wait and wont make a lot of difference to the rest of your life. Maybe better to start some cardio work to condition yourself, so you can get of to a stong start.

You'll also do well to spend your time reading up on fitness and weight training so that you have to 'know how' when you get to the gym.
