im just starting with weights...i was usually strictly cardio and occasionally circuit training.....i am confused with reps and how many sets per exercise. I used to use 5lb weights and do 25 each arm but i read that i should use more weight and fewer reps...which makes a lot of sense. And also how long should i rest between sets...and one more question how many different exercises should i do per day per muscle group. thanks a lot!
It sounds like you are just beginning so I recommend you get a nice full body strength training routine. Do it three days a week and lift low-to-medium sized weights.
Your main goal should be on getting the perfect form and movements. Once you have that down, move up to a heavier weight.
Most people like to start with one exercise per body part. Generally doing 3 sets of 10 reps for each exercise is sufficient. Resting for 1 minute between sets is also a good idea.
I'd keep your cardio on non-weight lifting days. Be sure to include 1-2 days per week of rest. There is more information on my main content site. You may find it helpful as it's all about and women.
