Rep Count

Morning,

I am trying to tone up a bit rather than bulk up so want to change the way I lift weights.

I am talking about the arms and chest area.

I am thinking of doing x4 sets of 20 reps?

Also what weight should I lift I know it needs to be lighter but not sure what sort of resistance? A comfortable weight rather than heavy?

Please advise

Gavin

personally i wouldnt do high reps for that, ive heard its better to stick with like.. 8-12 reps and rather focus on your diet.. but im not sure what you mean by "tone" its such a.. well.. i just dont like that word:p

What I mean by toning is getting a bit more definition and losing some body fat rather than get any bigger physically.

I am increasing cardio to reduce BF aswell

its all in your diet dude, for bulking, 8-12 reps is normal.. thats to get big muscles, though when you bulk, you eat ALOT!
when cutting, if you want you muscles to show, you still need big muscles, just not as much BF so that they will show more through the fat.
So the difference between cutting and bulking is really mostly in your diet, when you cut, you dont eat as much cals as when you bulk.

and ive heard from alot of people that the whole "many reps, low weight=definition" is just bull****.
you might want to wait for a second opinion on that though.

Well here is my .02 ... You want to lose bodyfat, the first thing you need to check is your diet. You can lose bodyfat doing 8,10 or however many reps you want really. It's your diet that has the most "say" in losing bodyfat and getting more defined !! Good luck :)
