A big, warm Calgarian hello to all!
I really enjoy working out with weights and try hard to take really good care of myself and keep myself super fit because I'm really obsessive about my body. But that's been tough since 50% of my workouts are now comprised of rehab
I blew my knee 2.5 two years ago and was in rehab for a 6 months for that, and then had the misfortune of being in two car accidents (one major) within the past 9 months. The Romulan cloaking device that I installed last year on my vehicle is obviously working, or else I have a "HIT ME" sign on the back of my SUV!
Needless to say, I'm still in rehab for cervical and lumbar/SI/pelvic damage. I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel (and it's been a long, long tunnel). And my knee still isn't quite right ... but it's better than it was before. My background is ballet, gymnastics and track and field (sprint, not long distance). I'm an avid XC skate style skier, too. At least I used to be ... maybe this year
My goal is to be able to do squats and deadlifts again. Even overhead lifts would be nice, but my neck doesn't seem to like that yet. My back complains a bit with certain movements, and my knee has good days and bad days. I know this doesn't sound like much of a goal, but I haven't been able to do those exercises for so long, and I really miss them.
I'm working very closely with my PT and sports physician and I'm getting there. They don't have the same expectations of me as I do (they are going for "normal" -- I want to get where I used to be before, which is anything but normal). Maybe I'll have to settle for "average", but I don't think I have to.
I'd be very appreciative of any suggestions or advice right now. I'm very open-minded when it comes to rehab!
