Registered Dietitian (RD) Saying Hi

Yoga RD

New member
Hi Forum Members!

I stumbled upon this forum and think it is fantastic.

There is a real need for peer to peer support in the journey of weight loss.

I am here to provide my nutrition knowledge to everyone here.

A little about me:
I studied nutrition at University of Rhode Island (undergrad) and Tufts University (graduate school).

I did my clinical training at Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

Since then, I have been a researcher at Purdue University and a community nutritionist here in New York.

I'm also one of the founders of a new program called NutriYoga.

If anyone has a question about nutrition, feel free to send me a private message.

My advice will be 110% evidence based. My pet peeve is false nutrition advice (it is everywhere!).

I look forward to chatting with you in the forums!

All the best,
Brian Dean MS, RD
Collaboration Coordinator NutriYoga LLC

I graduated from Tufts -hated it :)

Our pet peeve around here is new members coming in here and asking people to PM them for information - What are you selling?

We are not here for you to make money.. this is a community - join it if you will - but soliciting members is not tolerated

Sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your time at Tufts. I loved it there.

Yes, I have seen other forums ravaged by spammers. I'm not sure what was in my post suggested I am one of those. I'm not.

I'm a clinician and I think I can actually help a lot of people on the forum.

I don't see a lot of RD's in the forum, so I was hoping to be welcomed a bit better then this : ).

My best,
Brian

By all means - help people but help doesn't need to come from PMs... when you request that people send you pm's - especially when you've not established yourself as a member...

This isn't your run of the mill forum... people who come in that have 'credentials' - tend to get asked to prove what they know -

Welcome to the site... contribute - become an active member.. and expect to be questioned on your knowledge... it leads to interesting discussion often times...

What Mal said.

Welcome aboard by all means. It's great to have someone with your background wanting to participate in the community. However, this community is successful on a foundation of sharing advice and information out in the open. That's how productive discussion takes place that all can see and learn from.

Hopefully you're able to understand why coming in here and soliciting PMs isn't the best introduction with the above in mind.

We've had a number of RDs drop in. I can't think of one who lasted. Unfortunately I've met quite a large number of RDs who just didn't have it going on in the critical thought department. On the flipside though, I've met and know a number of great RDs.

I look forward to your contributions here. Best bet would be to start reading threads and helping out.
