RedRuth

Hi
I'm RedRuth & I just joined so I don't know my way around yet. I'm hoping you'll all welcome me & help me. I'm looking forward to learning more about healthy fitness. I've just finished my 3rd visit to my acupuncturist & he's helped a lot...I can now move my neck again, which means I can drive again. Yeah!!

I'm an artist who paints and sculpts so I have an active creative mind that gets exercised all day every day. But this means I haven't been concentrating on staying physically fit by exercising the rest of my body. I'm 71 years young even though I have a serious illness with no cure yet, called MS (Multiple Sclerosis). This means I should be exercising to keep my body parts happy & healthy.

I hope this is the right sight for me. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you.

Many of us have something that will be fended off by activity, even those of us who have only got them through activity itself, so you will fit right in.
Strangest one I have is when I had the seizure which identified me as epileptic. The first neurologist appointment he'd underlined a few sections and looked very critical as he declared the length of time I was fitting for. Apparently it was almost 1.5 times as long as would kill the average person, so my fitness literally enabled me to survive. The cost of course was the physical toll this took on me and achign for over a week, and apparently looking like I had died, though it was almost a month before anyone told me that bit, charmers that they were.

Health related fitness is all about moderation, and this can get boring so first priority is even more key for you, find stuff you enjoy. Going for walks most days will serve you so much better than an intense batch of workouts once here and there because you hate doing them. If you hate walking but have found some friends doing a spinning class that you can natter in and after, go for that, the world is out there, grab the bits you want.

Obviosly with the issues you have make sure you are sensible, and if in doubt put what the issues are in detail here and what you are intending to do. I am good on remedial fitness and we have some full on sports injury therapists here including jrahien who is generally far better than me when things get seriously problematic. We also have another gent who may recomend 5x5 deadlifts as a laugh, but apart from that he's very knowedgable too.
