Recovery from knee surgery

I had a ORIF of the patella and a lateral release in August, which basically means they took a piece of bone that shattered when i dislocated my knee out(along with some cartilege) and had a muscle cut to let my kneecap move back in place. Where the bone chipped is right near the joint line.

I'm training to get better in shape for the Marines and it's very aggravating with this constant knee pain. Also it is very painful to put weight on that weight when kneeling. If I take a couple of weeks off and start running again, it feels great for about a week then the pain starts again. Are there any supplements besides protein and glucosamine( already taking both) that could aid in healing? Any helpful excercises? Any advice is appriciated. Running is a big part in my losing weight for the Marines and I would hate to have pain while I'm in the Marines. Thanks for the help
