Ready to get serious

I just wanted to say hi to everyone here. My name is Amanda and I am hoping joining an online support forum is going to be one of the tools in my arsenal to finally lose all the extra weight.
I started a diet last August and from then untill Novemeber I lost 50lbs, then the holidays came and with that came back 10 lbs. So...I joined a gym a few weeks back and I have been going (trying for 5x week) but I am never really sure what I should and should not be doing to excelerate weight loss. So...I spent too much money on 10 personal training sessions :eek: She (trainer) said it will take about 3 or 4 months to get to my goal weight but even with her in my bag-o-tricks I would really love to talk to some people who are trying to lose weight and get support and advise from others.
It is easy to spend money on the gym and a personal trainer but for me, it would just be nice to talk to someone else who is going through the same issues and be able to lean on someone else every now and again.
 
Hi, and welcome. If you're looking for advice and support, you've come to the right place. This is a really friendly, supportive group, and you'll find loads of good information here (along with some bad, but the bad usually gets pointed out pretty quickly).

Like you, I have recently joined a gym (this week in fact), and I'm loving it at the moment. I had a session with a trainer when I started, and now I'm just figuring it out as I go along. With all the good advice I'm getting here, I thnk I'm doing OK. Hopefully, now you've found this place, you'll never need to pay that trainer again.

Seriously, I hope you enjoy the community and stay a while. Hiring a trainer will certainly help you adhere to the exercise regimen. What's the nutrition look like?
