Quitting the Gym :(

I have been going to the gym for 1 year but i have done it quite well.
Before the gym my weight was 151 lbs. very few pounds for a guy as tall as me (6' 2''). Now i am 190 lbs. my body fat is pretty low (my six pack is visible). I think i have a very decent body.
Now i am obligated to quit the gym for a year at least. My new schedule is the next: (monday-saturday)
7.00 am - 4.00 pm School
6.00 pm - 10 pm Work (Social Service for my school)

taking into account that my school is 2 hours away from my home and that i cannot change it i will not have time for anything other than sleep.
But luckly this will be for just 1 year, after that i will hit it again.
What can happen to my body if i keep this life?
i will try and eat the best i can and i will run sundays, but i cannot do much more.
will i lose my firm and athletic look?
what can i do in order to minimize the effects of inactivity?
Thanx a lot.

That's pointless! If you don't go back to the gym for a year than you'll lose everything that you've alreday gained

Ah quitting is gonna be a mistake! Does your school have a gym? A lot of schools do...maybe something to look into!

my school doesn't have one, there is one of questionable quality near my school but the thing is i am in my senior year in college, this last year has been quite difficult to keep in my training but i made it.
But now, last year in college, will be madness, add to that work, truth be told i don't think i can make it, i wish i could.

then that's it? i will lose everything??

Get yourself a bench press at home, with a barbell and the machine you can almost do a full body workout, so whenever you have time at home, use that (it's what im gonna have to do).

You rely on gyms to workout?

Your home is the best gym IMO.

i tried to workout in home before but i didn't see the results that i see in the gym, because i like to increment constantly the weight i lift.

not the greatest idea...i wood go to that questionable gym...even if it's 2 x 30mins a week you'll at least maintain what you have...how training 1 muscle before school and 1 after x 15 - 20mins each and that way you can just trash the muscle quickly and go home...and/or get stuff for home as mentioned

ok, i get what my options are to work out outside the gym, but what are the effects of leaving the gym for a year, am i really gonna lose all that i already won?

Maybe not all, but certainly a lot/most.

Its muscle that your body now relies on to perform its extra work. If your not getting that extra work, your body will shed it.

chances are...you will lose some muscle, but you still have a chance of keeping your body fat % in check. Just keep to a diet that doesnt consist of any junk food and you wont do too bad. It depends if you are ectomorph, mesomorph, or endomorph.

Do not quit.

I did the college thing, and worked at the same time, and had a g/f the whole time.
Life doesn't get easier after you graduate, unless you end up with a crap job and lots of spare time...in which case college was a waste. but i digress.

After college, you're still gonna have teh same time constraints. You need to learn NOW how to fit your workouts in, or you'll be screwed after graduation with the same time management issues.

yeah I hate going to the gym the best thing you can do is save up some dough and try and get you a lil set up. I plan on not having a gym membership next year. I have been asking for nothing but weight lifting equipment for my birthday, Xmas Ect that's what you do LOL. I have a Bowflex, plus my parents have free weights on top of that I have a gym membership. Id hate to see you go back down to 150 that would suck if you quit you're gonna be like I would be at point (c) as oppsed to starting over at (a) that sux trust me. Do the right thing LOL :p Good luck with whatever you choose to do

Lot of good points. You can do pushups and crunches anywhere. (Including pushups on chairs at school). Even if all you can do is 15 or 20 minutes a day, do it. Anyway you can workout at lunch?? Do a quick workout, come back and suck your food down in 5 minutes?? Find a way. If you want to keep all the good stuff you did, you WILL find a way. Think of your workouts almost as going to the bathroom or eating, they are something you HAVE to do - they are not optional.
