Quick advice

i've been lifting kind of hard for about a year now and am starting to get big. i've read in some magazines to lift heavy with low rep's for 2 weeks and then low/med. weight with high rep's for 2 weeks.

should i be doing this or should i wait until i get pretty big before i worry about being cut? or can i still be getting pretty big and cut by following the 2 weeks high, 2 weeks low. thanks.

that isn't about cutting, its called periodization. helps prevent you from burning out from lifting so intensly all the time.

you never want to lift the same way all the time, especially if you have been lifting less than 6 reps for a long time. you should be changing your workout every few weeks. The biggest thing about lifting really heavy for that long is that your body does not get a chance to rebuild as well. If you are wanting to keep getting bigger just change up your workouts between 3-12 reps. If you have been in the gym every single week for a year lifting heavy I would even recommend taking a week off just to let your ligaments and tendons rest.
