Hi im not sure if this has been asked before but here i go. Is it possible to work out 5 days a week at the gym and watch what you eat and still not lose weight or tone? I mean watch what you eat as in no junk junk food. Making healther choices but not deprive yourself? Me im a big time junk food lover but i love my fruits and veggies too. All i drink is water. But im afraid having a piece of cake or some candy one day will get me not to lose weight is that possible? I go to the gym mon - fri for about a good hour and use all the weight machines (novolis or whatever they are called) and walk on the treadmil. But if i have some occational piece of junk food here and there will still not tone and lose weight? Also i havent been counting calories lately at all but i dont get to eat much during the day. A usual day for me consist of.

Breakfast - 1 package of weight control oatmeal, 1 light & fit yogurt.

Snack - protein bar

Lunch - 1 can of progresso light soup

Snack - fiber one bar

Dinner - grilled chicken with veggies or egg white and a light & fit yogurt

Snack - a serving of wheat thins or some fresh veggies & some fresh fruit.

Anything i should be adding in? Occationally i add a piece of chocolate here and there dam halloween candy we still have left lol..

Well to answer your question:

Is it possible to work out 5 days a week at the gym and watch what you eat and still not lose weight or tone? I mean watch what you eat as in no junk junk food. Making healther choices but not deprive yourself?

Certainly that's possible for any number of reasons.

Like, if calories are off, regardless of how wisely you select your food and how much you exercise you aren't going to lose weight.

Or if you're not eating enough for your size and activity level, your body can adapt in such a way that makes losing weight seem next to impossible.

Me im a big time junk food lover but i love my fruits and veggies too. All i drink is water. But im afraid having a piece of cake or some candy one day will get me not to lose weight is that possible?

All you have to do is keep the idea of calories in vs. calories out in your head.

If the energy you eat during the day is less than the energy you consume, you're going to be tapping into your fat stores.

It's not quite as simple as that if you're in the latter scenario I mentioned above with not eating enough for your size and activity level, but for most around here it applies.

You need to ditch the all-or-nothing mentality and think rationally.
