Question...

I have a quick question. As of Monday I will begin a new 1 hour routine at 5am every morning. What I'm wondering is... should I eat breakfast before or after I work out? And for my protein shake, should I have that before or after? One thing for sure is that I will be having my (one and only) morning coffee before I do anything lol.

I take half of my protein shake right after I'm getting up (while your coffee is perking?). I mix it with milk so that I have some substance in my gut befor working out, but having only half helps so I'm not feeling 'liquid full'. After your workout, have the other half of it with your breakfast. This is my personal preference for working out in the morning because who wants to get up earlier just to eat befor a workout...

For this reason, I try to workout right after work. I plan for it by having a snack at coffee time that will tide me over until after the workout. But, I know that time for many people is at a premium, so as long as you are exercising, make it work for you. Good luck with your routine! Which routine are you doing??
 
I would eat some before for some energy (carb) and some after to help maintain your metabolism.

My best days for exercise are
Coffee first, then exercise withouht food. then a good quality breakfast. If you exercise when you haven't just been eating carbs then your body should access energy from your fat (YAY). If I'm feeling really hungry I have half a banana (but I don't do that very often).

Its really working for me :)
